The Top Three AoS Lists
Allegiance: Flesh-eater Courts – Grand Court: Blisterskin – Grand Strategy: Spellcasting Savant – Triumphs: Bloodthirsty
LEADERS Abhorrant Archregent (240)* – General – Command Trait: Hellish Orator – Lore of Madness: Deranged Transformation Abhorrant Archregent (240)* – Lore of Madness: Spectral Host Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist (450)** – Artefact: Eye of Hysh – Mount Trait: Gruesome Bite – Lore of Madness: Blood Feast Abhorrant Ghoul King (170)** – Lore of Primal Frost: Rupture
UNITS 3 x Crypt Flayers (180)** 10 x Crypt Ghouls (80)** 10 x Crypt Ghouls (80)** 10 x Crypt Ghouls (80)** 3 x Crypt Flayers (180)**
Hanna Leppänen: This list is an interesting one! Blisterskin is not the most typical subfaction, but it gives +2″ move to all Blisterskin units and a teleport CA for flying units. The Hero section of this list looks rather typical with double Archreagents providing 2 casts each and summons. Goose King aka Aborrant Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist providing a good mobile hammer (especially when buffed up) and Foot King for that +1 A spell and 10 Ghouls summon. Spellcasting Savant is a good GS, especially with Flayers, who I think are playing a major role in this list, transporting the heroes and being super mobile.
Overall, this list is a neat take on how FEC can be super control heavy (this was earlier this year seen particularly in Morgaunt lists). Lots of movement, movement shenanigans, screens, and zoning pieces prevent armies from getting where they want to go, with a huge threat of Goose King and Terrorgheist looming around (possibly teleporting with Blisterskin CA).
The list plays vastly different to the typical “99” horrors lists seen around. It doesn’t hit hard apart from the terrorgheists, but it provides a lot of hard to counter, mobile pieces that can screen the Terrorgheist and bully the back lines. Flayers can carry the non-flying heroes surprisingly far when needed, and while they’re definitely in the short end of the recent changes FEC got in Dawnbringers, they can do work, especially against the squishier targets. The 2 Terrorgheists do the heavy lifting of this list, while summons and fast flayers outmanouver and threaten out of position units.
This all being said, this kind of list requires very good positioning to function well, so very well done to Trung for getting his 5-0 with the list!

Aaaah, Starborne. Last time I commented on a Starborne list, I just made a glib limerick. And I can’t exactly top that. So this time, I’m just going to speculate idly on what could be done in terms of internal balance to mix things up a little.
Firstly, kill ‘Lord of Celestial Resonance’. Just straight up delete it from the book. It’s so far and away the most competitive pick of Command Traits as to render the rest meaningless. Sure, there was that one no-Slann list at War in the Heartlands that just happened to go 5-0, and he’s a complete legend, but of course the rest of us mere mortals want double the star power for just playing the game. Delete that command trait and we’d see some experimentation with the others – plus, as a result, the Slann’s points could probably drop a little which would also make him much more viable in Coalesced lists.
Next, re-write the Dracothian’s Tale sub-faction rules. As it stands it’s fairly pointless as I see it – the army gives you teleporting, you want stuff on the board for generating star power and screening your Star Power Generators – and there’s even a handy artifact (which this list hasn’t even bothered to take) for bringing stuff in outside of 7″ as opposed to 9″. So what does Draco Tail actually offer? Change it to something like – I don’t know, it buffs Chotecs and Terradons, or makes monsters a bit better somehow so that it can function as the ‘wizard lizards with fighty friends’ playstyle.

CORE BATTALIONS *Ossiarch Cohort
TOTAL POINTS: 1950/2000
Roland Rivera: An interesting note about the Ossiarch Bonereapers 3rd edition tome is that the first list to earn 5-0 honors used the Crematorians subfaction. Clarificatory changes to the timing of the Gothizzar Harvester’s ability (which made it markedly worse) resulted in it falling out of favor, but recent points cuts to the Harvester and to Mortek Guard have made it an appealing option once again.
This list features an interesting General choice in the Liege-Kavalos, which has been kitted out to be an immovable object with the combination of Mighty Archaeossian (which gives it a 3+ ethereal save) and Lode of Saturation (which gives it a base 5+ Ward). Because this list is Mortek Guard-centric, a Soulmason is a strong choice thanks to the Soul-Guide spell. These choices join a Boneshaper and Katakros, which are common inclusions in most OBR lists.
As for the troops themselves, this list features 2 units of 20 Morteks that it will seek to get into combat, as well as 5 Kavalos Deathriders as an efficient skirmisher unit. Lastly, a Harvester provides a potent source of secondary healing for the Mortek as well as a cheap, decently hitty Monster to Roar into combat with.
Last but not least, the list includes some endless spells in the Bone-Tithe Shrieker (to combat wards) and the Soulstealer Carrion (to combat cheap objective grabbers). You don’t often see these spells in OBR lists with how tight their points situation currently is, but the pilot here clearly felt that they were needed, and who am I to argue?

Aaron Newbom: This is a nice balanced list that has take all comers energy. Gobbsprakk is amazing in this meta and a real all star of the list. It’s hard to leave home without him right now.
The same goes for a single unit of hobgrotz. It’s just so much utility for 80 points
My favorite bit here, though, is the gnashtoof. It’s such a great pinning piece and incredibly annoying to kill for its cost.
In the current GHB sacrificing, your general can be a boon as it opens up tactics. Previously, I would’ve recommended against making the dog general, but it makes sense in this context

TERRAIN 1 x Charnel Throne (0)
CORE BATTALIONS *Andtorian Acolytes **Warlord
TOTAL POINTS: 1985/2000
Hanna Leppänen: This list is a Hollowmourne 99 archetype, with core of the army being 2 units of 9 Crypt Horrors, who of course hit like trucks when buffed. Joachim decided to go with extra artefact for the Spellcasting Savant GS General, picking up the Dermal Robe for better spellcasting, instead of more spells. He has only one Archreagent, which is not typical and has a Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist instead of the more common Zombie Dragon King. Terrorgheist is more offensive piece and does have a good spell that gives the target unit a 5+ ward. He also picked 2 Haunter Courtiers to have reliable mustering for his 2 blocks of 9 Crypt Horrors. Weirdly the list lacks one of the best spells the 99 -lists have, Deranged Transformation, but Hollowmourne CA offers some additional mobility to the big blocks of Horrors.
Chalice of Ushoran is a very unorthodox pick, usually seen more in old Morgaunt lists. For Horror lists it doesn’t return models to the meat and bones of the army (Horrors), but you can use it to heal the Terrorgheist King and basically anything within the range of the Endless Spell. One small unit of Royal Beastflayers is a nice tech piece to counter possible Roars preventing feeding frenzy CA’s on the important pieces.

Army Faction: Gloomspite Gitz – Subfaction: Jaws of Mork – Grand Strategy: Chasing the Moon – Triumph: Indomitable
LEADERS Fungoid Cave-Shaman (110)* – General – Command Traits: The Clammy Hand – Spells: The Hand of Gork Madcap Shaman (70)* – Artefacts of Power: Moonface Mommet – Spells: Hoarfrost Squigboss (110)** Skragrott, the Loonking (230)***
Lodivicus: Sharing a lot of the same core units as the list that won the London GT just a week earlier, Laszlo’s list supports that this core may be the new normal for Jaws of Mork lists (as opposed to the double max Squig Herd and Squig Hoppers lists that preceded it a few battlescrolls ago).
The core of the list consists of Skragrott, one doubled reinforced Squig Herd, a Madcap Shaman (with Moonface Mommet and Hoarfrost), a Squigboss, Boingrot Bounderz, Sneaky Snufflers, Gobbapalooza and, of course, the Bad Moon Loonshrine.
Rather than just regurgitating all of the same information about the core, I’ll direct you to read that commentary here. It was so well written by two experts, that there isn’t much that I could say to expand upon it. So what makes this list different from the one that won the London GT just a week earlier? Two significant changes.
First, the decision to select the Fungoid Cave-Shaman as the general makes getting his Grand Strat pretty reliable. The Spore Squig ability reducing visibility to 12” (even against spells) can be huge for his survivability since he’ll be camping near the Loonshrine for the Clammy Hand command trait benefit. As a second source of Hand of Gork, he can still contribute from the back and can get himself out of dodge if necessary to secure the three points.
Second, Laszlo chose to include two Moonclan Shootas units (as opposed to more Bounderz) to provide some level of ranged support. They are primarily there to be model count for objective control but also serve the purpose of adding extra wound count to the army.
It will be exciting to see what other variations on the remaining points around the core will be in the future. And if the core of list does, as I suspect, become the new normal for Jaws of Mork lists going forward.

Units 6 x Ogroid Theridons (300)** – Thorakon – Banner Bearer – Charge-Caller – Goroan Great Axe – Mark of Chaos: Khorne – Reinforced x 1
Roland Rivera: Now here’s a list you don’t see very often. In fact, I think this is a list you wouldn’t see at all prior to the latest Battlescroll. Conventional wisdom in Slaves to Darkness listbuilding is to go light on Heroes so that you have more points to spend on their devastating power-punching troops. This list has chosen a very different approach – support lots of efficiently-priced bodies with lots of Heroes and a bit of long-range shooting.
Notably, this list features 4 Heroes with the rarely-seen Mark of Tzeentch, which can give the list a lot of positional flexibility when combined with the spellcasting power of Cabalists. With so many potential landing spots if the Heroes spread out, Warp Reality starts to function more like a conventional teleportation spell, which in turn makes it very useful. It also features a unit of Nurgle Warriors to hold the line, a unit of Undivided Warriors to pressure objectives, and a unit of Slaanesh Knights for reach. Speaking of reach, 2 Mutalith Vortex Beasts can combine with Tzeentch Heroes to give this list a bit of long-range damage potential that Slaves to Darkness lists typically lack.
The punch in this list comes from Merciless Blizzard (carried by a semi-expendable Exalted Hero) and a unit of 6 Khorne Ogroid Theridons, which hit like a ton of bricks. It’s a style of list we don’t often see out of Slaves to Darkness, but it clearly has some potential.

The Top Three AoS Lists
Army Faction: Blades of Khorne – Subfaction: Reapers of Vengeance – Grand Strategy: Slaughter of Sorcery – Triumph: Bloodthirsty
LEADERS Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster (300)* – Artefacts of Power: Halo of Blood Slaughterpriest (110)* – Hackblade and Wrath-hammer – Prayers: Killer Instinct Realmgore Ritualist (110)* – Prayers: Bloodbind Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage (310)** – General – Command Traits: Unrelenting Hunter – Artefacts of Power: Ar’gath, the King of Blades Slaughterpriest (110)*** – Bloodbathed Axe – Prayers: Blood Sacrifice – Nullstone Adornments: Pouch of Nulldust Skarbrand (380)***
Patrick German: I love this list because Thomas has included a handful of off-meta picks. We’ve talked at length about the Slaughterpriests, Realmgore Ritualist, and Skarbrand, but we don’t see people deviate from certain selections very often and still come in first.
Thomas has opted to use a Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage as his general, breaking away from the usual Fury-thirster. Ar’gath is still there, as it is in most Khorne lists, but unrelenting hunger is a more unique choice. This allows the Bloodthirster to either make a pile-in, normal move, or charge attempt at the end of the combat phase, depending on whether he is within 3″ of an enemy unit or not. Keeping the Bloodthirster stuck in combat with the option of throwing out an Apoplectic Frenzy in the following hero phase is an excellent strategy to quickly cut your opponent down. Using the Rage-thirster in a Reapers of Vengeance list also helps mitigate the relatively poor to Hit characteristic of the Great Axe of Khorne. The potential damage output is great, but only hitting 50% of the time isn’t.
THomas has also included a Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster with the Halo of Blood. You know that usual combination we see with the Bloodmaster + Halo of Blood + Bloodletter bomb? This is the bloodthirster bomb. Commander of Tyrants and Marshal of Khorne’s Legions combined with the Halo of Blood is going to allow the above bloodthirster to fight first in the combat phase and get hit with a free All-out Attack. This is an amazing combo as it allows your ward-denying, mortal wound-causing, axe-weilding general to obliterate whatever he’s in combat with, hopefully before they have the chance to swing back.
Meanwhile, Thomas has two sets of Claws of Karanak, 4 units of Reavers (one of which is the Garrek’s variety), and a unit of Flesh hounds. These are his scoring pieces and will help generate some additional blood tithe as they inevitably die. Of particular note are the Claws, which are more easily able to score early battle tactics like Surround and Destroy due to their pre-game move.
All in all, this is an excellent example of what can be done with the Khorne Battletome, and it’s great to see these experiments achieving first place. Congratulations to Thomas on his victory, and I hope to see more of this creativity in the future!

CORE BATTALIONS: *Warlord **Warlord
TOTAL POINTS: (1990/2000)
Patrick German: This is more of a traditional list when compared to the above. Derick has opted for Bloodlords, which is a fun choice. Extra mortal wounds for those two bloodletter squads is deadly, and the fact that you can keep summoning bloodletter units for the rtealitvely low price of 4 blood tithe points means that the fun can continue into the late stages of the battle.
Derick has included two 360 pt bloodletter units which will be doing an average of 20 mortal wounds after a charge, assuming they are fighting backed up by the Bloodsecrator’s extra attacks. The bloodthrone will put in work to keep those letters alive, as his warscroll prayer can bring back D6 bloodletters ona 2+ (assuming he is within 3″ of an enemy unit). He’s also included 2 bloodmasters in his list, one for each bloodletter unit, to provide some extra support and damage.
Past there, Derick has included a unit of Bloodreavers (excellent for taking an objective or dying to generate some blood tithe) and two units of flesh hounds to score battle tactics and grab objectives.
This is an excellent list with a lot of good tools in the toolbox. Derick can threaten large portions of the board, providing a unit that can screen the opponent away from his scoring units while killing enemies off objectives.

Battleline 10 x Crypt Ghouls (80) 9 x Crypt Horrors (330)** – Reinforced x 2 9 x Crypt Horrors (330)** – Reinforced x 2
Hanna Leppänen: This list is a pretty typical “99” Horror list, which has two double-reinforced units of Crypt Horrors. It is not a Hollowmourne list, so it trades Battleline Horrors and Run+Charge for Delusion: Feast Day which gives you the option to use Feeding Frenzy ability without CP being spent. It also gives you the option to pick CT and Artifacts freely because the FEC book is the last one to have subfaction -locked CT/artifact. Haunter Courtier as General makes the Horrors battleline instead. Overshadow can be hard GS to complete depending on the meta, so kudos for Shannon for being successful with it. Some summon choices (particularly Flayers) can help a bit to chase down teleporting battleline units.
That being said, this list foregoes screens apart from the 10 Crypt Ghouls and pretty much is designed to go all in and table your opponent early on. 9 Horrors are 36 wounds with 6+ ward, and if you don’t kill them in one turn, they can get mustered back, and make no mistake, 9 Horrors hit super hard, especially with Feeding Frenzy and Hoarfrost. They can also be quite fast even without Run&Charge, since on a casting roll of 10+ Deranged Transformation (easy enough with Primal Dice and Acolytes batallion) can be applied to 3 units, and can choose the same unit multiple times, giving a unit of 9 Horrors effectively 12″ extra movement! No wonder there are multiple sources of the spell in the army.
Horribly Resilient (Royal blood heals 3 wounds instead of D3) for ZD mount trait is an uncommon pick, but makes one think the GKoZD’s role is to give the re-roll wounds aura, Feeding Frenzy, Rend aura and to keep up with the Horrors, while staying alive as well as possible.

Danny Wadeson: Well, it’s a Seraphon list with the Spinedog. I wish it wasn’t, but this is the timeline we live in. Perhaps one day GW will relent, and admit that the boney nuisance was never really meant to be used outside of fluffy campaign play and we’ll all go back to being able to move our models around, but until then – let’s just ignore it and see what else Mr. Freed was rolling with.
It’s your standard Fangs core, minus Kroak (the Spinedog points gotta come from somewhere) – and, leaning into the theme of balancing star-power with some brute, physical force – he also brings a reinforced unit of Aggradons. Overall it’s quite an interesting idea, partly due to the fragility of pure-magic Starborne builds that rely on rapid summoning to control the board and put up screens. But the Spinedog shutting down falling back also combos with the Aggradon rage counter, meaning if the Spinedog can tag something, and the Aggradons charge it – and that enemy unit somehow survives, then the Aggradons Rage counter is guaranteed to tick up. Over a couple of rounds I can imagine that leaves the opponent rather a lot to be wary of while the Starborne shenanigans carry on in the background.
The list lost only to Khorne, which isn’t terribly surprising, and definitely proved it can deal with Gitz! Either way, congrats to Freed for a great result.

Total: 2000 / 2000
Walter Brock: Today we are looking at a tough cookie of a list. Running Petrifex Elite instead of the common Null Myriad we are used to seeing this season lately. This sub faction will allow the already tough units to be even harder to take out.
Spell casting savant works well with the Immortis guard. Making it very difficult to Deny the OBR grand strat.
Katakros alongside with Petrifex turns the toughness up to 11. Giving everything +1 to save and reducing enemy wound rolls by 1 in melee makes it very hard for things to go down.
The Boneshaper helps reinforce the hard to kill aspect of this list. Artisans key bringing back stalkers and Immortis guard is very efficient. That already nearly impossible to kill model just came back. Diversionary tactics reducing enemy charges by 3 within 12 can cause some charges to fail, deny battle tactics and make things difficult for the opponent all together. Reinforce constructs helps provide some protection from mortal wounds. One of the few sources of damage that can take out these tough units reliably.
The Ossifector is mostly here to buff the Morghasts. The primary buff going on them will be the +1 rend. A strong support piece to keep things going.
6 Immortis Guard are seen a lot. That’s because they are very good at what they do, not dying and bodyguarding your characters that are reviving the Immortis guard. With a once per game fight twice Immortis Guard have very respectable damage.
Deathriders are the Heros of Bonereaper lists. These can do pretty much anything. From screening to doing a simple battle tactic. This player opted for a single unit of Deathriders to open the battle tactic option mostly. The real meat and potatoes of the list is in the tough elite infantry and Morghasts.
A unit of 3 stalkers is interesting. A small, fast unit that can take out key targets or run around harassing the opponents’ sides. They aren’t as survivable as Immortis guard but gain speed and hit harder in return. A very strong unit for any situation.
lastly is the two Morghast units. Archai get a 5+ ward while wholly within 12 of a hero and Harbingers get the option to deep strike from off the board. Putting both units in adds for some powerful tactical flexibility. Both units when they roll and 8 or higher on the charge get fight first. Letting the list pile on more damage before the main threat of a unit has even attacked. The main strength of these guys is their ability to turn off commands within 3. This ability can throw a wrench in an opponent’s plan and help swing things in favor for the Bone Reapers play.
All this fits into a Battle regiment. A powerful list that is incredibly hard to kill the models, and lots of tactical flexibility. Well done to this player.

The Top Three AoS Lists
List 1: Allegiance: Khorne – Slaughterhost: Reapers of Vengeance – Grand Strategy: Slaughter of Sorcery – Triumphs: Inspired

Units 3 x Magore’s Fiends (140)** 5 x Godsworn Hunt (160)** – Allies
Roland Rivera: Despite this tournament being in a 2-list format, our winner seems to has thumbed his nose at that notion, as both of his lists are exactly the same! He has gone for the Hero-heavy Khorne approach which seems to be gaining momentum of late, as he has maxed out his Hero selections.
The list is anchored by Skarbrand and the Bloodthirster of Unfettered Fury, which are a vital source of mobility in the form of 3D6″ charges (Skarbrand for himself, the Unfettered Fury Thirster for anyone) and doing most of the damage. The list also packs several Priests (including the Unfettered Fury Thirster itself) to help power out whatever Prayer or Invocation is the most useful at the moment (and this list has a pretty deep selection). An interesting addition is Theddra Skull-Scryer as an Ally (likely for Andtorian Locus-centered Battle Tactics). Skarr Bloodwrath rounds out the Hero lineup as a cheap, recurring space blocker that can also double as a source of Blood Tithe.
These Heroes have some troop support in the form of a blob of Bloodletters and Magore’s Fiends, but they will mostly be asked to do the heavy lifting in combat, on both offense and defense. Overall, this style of Khorne list seems to be gaining momentum this season, so don’t be surprised if you see similar lists going forward.
