Faction Terrain Mawpit
Roland Rivera: Carson Whitlock has carved out a reputation for himself as one of the foremost Ogor Mawtribes players, and he continues to show us how to get the most out of the big guys this season. Out are last year’s Stonehorns, and in come the Gutbusters, thanks largely to interacting more favorably with terrain rules and the potent Mawpath Menaces Battle Formation, which adds some out-of-turn movement to your arsenal.
The bedrock of this list is the 2 casters and the 2 reinforced blocks of Ogors. The Butcher’s run-and-charge aura is obviously invaluable, and he also carries the Mage-swallower Big Name for Ward denial, which can be backbreaking in the right matchup. Conversely, the Slaughtermaster can provide potent buffs the troops as they hack their way through your opponent’s army. Speaking of the troops, 12 Gluttons are a giant blob of wounds that is also a very solid volume attacker and absorbs buffs well, whereas 8 Ironguts is one of the game’s premier hammers.
To complement this, Carson has sprinkled in hits from all over the Gutbuster lineup. A Gorger Mawpack can threaten backfields with its deployment ability and is very potent against massed infantry, the Scourge of Ghyran Ironblaster is excellent bang-for-the-buck shooting (pun fully intended), and Gnoblars help screen for the important stuff while offering 20 bodies to pile onto an objective. A nice little tech piece here that is somewhat easy to overlook is the Bloodpelt Hunter. As a Priest that can move out of turn with control 5, he is an excellent objective stealer, and can put a bit of a scare into lone Heroes or wounded Monsters with his combat profile.
All in all, this list displays the depth of options available to Ogors, and why the army is a potent one in the hands of a skilled player.

Regiment 1 Eternus, Blade of the First Prince (200) Chaos Furies (120)
Faction Terrain Nexus Chaotica
Roland Rivera: Legion of the First Prince hasn’t gotten a lot of press this edition, but Be’lakor combined with durable troops can win games by controlling the board and winning key combats, and this list followed that blueprint very well. The combination of Bestow Favour, Enfeeble Foe, and Daemonic Reinforcements make this army’s blobs of Bloodletters hard to get rid of, and it has enough complementary units to make it a good scoring army.
The aforementioned complementary units include Furies for speed and objective grabbing, Bloodcrushers to roam around flanks, Flamers to clear chaff and thin down units before you hit them, and Eternus to provide a roadblock with recursion that can give you a once-per-game offensive boost. The Primal Energy manifestation lore also gives you a bit of extra juice in combat.
While combining all of these elements does require some finesse, it can produce some undeniably potent results, as the record of this army’s games demonstrates (scoring the full 80 points is no trivial feat for an infantry castle army). This result is yet another example of how wide open Slaves to Darkness listbuilding is right now, and how overlooked Battle Formations and Armies of Renown can potentially surprise you.

Roland Rivera: Ironjawz has stumbled out of the gate this season as an army, but that plight mainly has to do with the infantry – underestimate their cavalry and monsters at your peril. Will Reeves has chosen to lean into this premise by using the Krazogg’s Grunta Stampede Army of Renown, which trades in the Ironjawz Waaagh and access to Wizards and Priests for some useful mobility tools that supplement the Gore-Gruntas’ and Maw-Gruntas’ high base Move characteristic. It also takes advantage of Gore-Gruntas having a good combination of high health for their points, as well as large bases to cover space on the board.
A crucial part of this strategy is the reinforced unit of Gore-Gruntas – the Grunta Stampede lets you move one unit up in the Deployment phase, and 6 Gore-Gruntas on large cavalry bases packing 30 health on a 3+ save are a strong candidate for this, as that can help you establish control over the middle of the board and threat to pin your opponent in their deployment zone. Beyond that, the 3-man units of Gore-Gruntas are utility units that can screen, stall, or gang up on weaker units, whereas the Maw-Gruntas bring the damage, as well as a potentially potent rampage against elite infantry and cavalry in Eatin’ On Da Hoof, which can trim their numbers before combat is even joined.
Overall, this list relies on its speed to be where it needs to exert influence on objectives and on its ability to set up favorable combats (such as by using the Maw-Grunta Gouger’s strikes-last rampage) to take out key targets. As evidenced by the record, this is one of the strongest strategies currently available to Ironjawz, and don’t be surprised if it becomes a recurring presence at podiums.

GT Win Rates
Slight change this week, as I’ve split the new Khorne book into different aspects (highlighted in Orange). At the very top we have the Gorechosen formation on its own split out from the rest of the book. I’ve also got a line included for the Khorne book without the Gorechosen and finally a combined Khorne line which includes everything. This will continue thoughout the stats you see later on. Once Gorechosen get nerfed, I’ll combinen results after that into a Post FAQ line.
Win Rate Over the Last 4 Weeks
Estimated Win Rates if the Player Skill Levels were Equal
That’s a mouthful of title isn’t it!?
Essentially, what I’m trying to do here is work out what the win rates would be if the skill levels of all the players were the same (Yes, I realise this is nearly impossible to calculate – But I’m playing around here).
How it works is by calculating the average Elo of all the players that have had matches since the April battlescroll dropped. This worked out as 426.7. I then calculated how much difference there was between a factions average Elo shown in our original win rate graph to this overall average. The difference between these two figures was then turned into a percentage difference over/under the 426.7 elo. I then increased or decreased their win rate by this percentage (But this isn’t as simple as deducting or adding the percentage different to the win rate – you have to work out for instance what 4% may be of say 53% and then apply that. For Example – 10% of 40% is 4%)
Battle Formation GT Win Rates
This data is calculated in the same way as the win rates for factions.
Faction Popularity (Broken Down by Player Elo Rating)
This is perhaps the most interesting chart to me personally. Here you can see the spread of the player skill levels for each faction according to our Elo rating system (updated each week in line with the Age of Sigmar stats).
The dark blue shows the really elite players of 700+ Elo. Interestingly, they don’t seem to give a damn about which faction is performing well in the meta and rely on their own skill (as they should!). Neither to 600-699 rated players. Where we start to see the swell in players possibly chasing the factions with more favourable rules is in players rated less than 600 Elo.
To make it a bit easier to see the effect of higher skilled players, I’ve added the below chart this week which breaks down each factions player base as a percentage.
Elite and Rookie Players by Faction
The blue section shows the percentage of a factions players which have an Elo rating of 500 or greater. While the Orange shows the number of new players to the faction where they have yet to attend a tournament (based on our database history).
The Fabien Chart
Fabien Barbusse is a top player in the AoS scene and a member of the Woehammer Discord who is one of many who points out any mistakes in the charts before we publish them. He stated he felt the most valuable chart would be a version of the one above, which shows the % of 4+ win results in a 5 game event compared to the other results.
% of Players with a Positive GT Result
Ideally you would want 50% of the players having a positive results for a truly balanced game system.
Consecutive Wins
This chart shows firstly the % of players with a negative result from 5 games at GT’s or GT+ in purple for each faction.
Dark blue shows the percentage of players who achieved 5 wins from 5 in the first five rounds of a GT or GT+.
Orange shows the players who achieved four wins from the first four rounds of a GT or GT+ but were unable to achieve the full house and lost their round 5 match.
Green shows the players who achieved three wins from three wins but were unable to win in their fourth round match.
Light blue shows all other players aside from those shown in the first three categories, who were able to achieve a positive result at a GT or GT+ i.e. 3 or more wins.
Battle Tactic Win Rates
This table shows the most popular battle tactic pairings for each faction.
Battleplan Win Rates
For those of you who are counted among our legendary Patreons, you can download the stats database below which now includes warscroll win rates and lists.
On top of this there is some added extras in the form of a faction dive into Seraphon.
