I can get ANY GW line for you. If it’s not on our list (of over 1,500 lines at 25% off!), that means it will be 15% off, as I must do it via the website, where discount is much reduced, to me. As well as our Games Workshop discount we have discounts on Bolt Action, Marvel Crisis Protocol and more.

This is hopefully going to make ordering a lot easier for everyone, but please remember I don’t hold all items in store, so the shipping delay may still apply while waiting for stock to arrive. The best time to place orders is by Sunday 6pm so I can collect all the information and order stock on Monday and get it to you in a good time frame.

Web only items are on there too, so please appreciate the fact that I can offer these at a discounted price (though a little less than the usual 25%) but I have to order them direct from the GW website just as you would do and if there is no stock, I also have to wait till they come back in, and this may cause shipping delays.

Any questions or queries on this process please send me an email.
You can place your orders via the website or via the order form, whichever works best for you :0)

All orders placed via the website that are over £95 qualify for free Shipping.

Don’t forget the order cut-off is 6pm sharp Sunday. Anything after that rolls to next week’s order.

How to order, pay etc – VERY important to read:
Below is how to lay your hands on the below at 25% off:

Email the completed form to me at scnhobbyworld@outlook.com

I place the order at 6pm sharp on a Sunday – any orders from 6:01pm onwards will be rolled to the following week

The Battle of Burning Skies Preview

This weekend I’m taking part in my first AoS tournament, Battle of Burning Skies is run by the legends at Savage Hammer Gaming and Greetings from the Warp, and is sponsored by none other than fellow Woehammerer Sarah and SCN Hobbies.

This is my first tournament of any kind since 1999 (yes, I’m that old). All the lists are available on Best Coast Pairing if you have a subscription so I thought I would cover three of the lists which I believe have the potential to win.

Savage Hammer Gaming have a number of events upcoming this year all based in Bedford, for both 40k and AoS. So if you want to keep updated on them or want to come along to an event why not check them out on Eventbrite.

Favourite Declan Waters – Big Waaagh!

Declan has come off the back of two tournament tournament wins and a second place, being undefeated in all three. A win at Dazmaul Wargaming and the Chumpionship tournament, and a second place at Raging Rivers so its hard to ignore his potential to make it three wins on the trot. Declan is running his favourite Big Waaagh! once more which suits his punch second gaming style.

Christine Coram – Ironjaws

After starting the year playing Daughters of Khaine, Christine swapped to her old favourites Ironjaws for the Chumpionship, and boy what a swap! Christine finished 2nd in the event to Declan with her Ironjaws list and I’ve no doubt her list has the potential for three wins this weekend. WHAT’S THAT COMING OVER THE HILL? IS IT KRAGNOS, IS IT KRAGNOOOOSSSS?! Lots of big stompy monsters here, with a recently upgraded Kragnos who can do a lot of heavy lifting alongside the ubiquitous Maw-Krusha. This list is bound to crush face.

Christian Moore – Legion of the First Prince

We’ve seen versions of Christian’s list on many top 3’s recently so it’s hard to ignore the potential for him to place high up in the rankings this weekend. Christian is a seasoned pro and went 5-0 at Blackout V with his Soulblight Dynasty he has swapped them this time around for Legion and I think he has the potential to push Declan to the end on this one.

Combat Patrol: Space Wolves – Beginners 1,000 Point Starter Army

Today we’re looking at the Space Wolves Combat Patrol box, continuing our series of 1,000 point start armies using the Combat Patrol boxes as our base, and hopefully going someway to fulfilling my pledge I made last week.

Combat Patrol Beginners Armies
Adeptus Sororitas
Blood Angels
Orks

Combat Patrol Space Wolves

Like the other boxes the Combat Patrol box is filled with goodies and makes for fantastic savings when you’re starting out in collecting an army for 40k.

Inside the box you get:

Space Wolves Primaris Lieutenant (£17.50)
– this Lieutenant is only available in this boxed set
5x Reivers (Can also be built as Hounds of Morkai) (£27.50)
10x Intercessors (£35)
1x Invictor Warsuit (£37.50)
2x Space Wolves Upgrade Sprues (£18)

That’s a total of £135.50 if you were buying these kits serparately, meaning you get a saving of £50.50.

It has been pointed out by veteran Space Wolf players however, that this boxed set may not be the best place to start your collection. Instead, they suggest the Blood Angels Combat Patrol box*. But that’s not our challenge, so today we’re going to start with the Space Wolves Combat Patrol box.

To add to this boxed set, we’re going to add two units that are unique to the Space Wolves.

Wulfen (£35)
Stormwolf (£50)

Meaning that the total army including Codex: Space Marines and the Codex Supplement: Space Wolves comes to a total of £217.50.

However, remember that if you email Sarah at scnhobbyworld@outlook.com and ask to go on her mailing list, you can get 25% off Games Workshop products. Meaning the whole lot including the books will cost you just £163!

Here’s our final 1,000 point list.

PRIMARIS LIEUTENANT

Space Wolf Lieutenant

We’ve forgone a lot of HQ choices to allow us to get the Wulfen and Stormwolf in the list to add the fast punch the army needs. That said, it means that this small squishy lieutenant will be the warlord and so will need to be protected. Place him with your Intercessors to allow him to buff them with re-rolling 1’s on attack rolls.

If he does suffer any wounds then you can always use Healing Balms for 1CP at the end of the movement phase to heal D3 wounds back. To give him some extra staying power makes he has the Warrior of Legend Stratagem attached to him giving him two Command Traits, then make one of those command traits Resolve of the Bear. this will give him a 6+ invulnerable save and prevents enemy attacks against him from re-rolling their wound rolls or damage rolls.

For his second command trait, equip him with Warrior Born, that way if he does find himself in combat he’ll always fight first that phase.

INTERCESSORS

Primaris Intercesssors

With the Space Wolves, they’re a very aggressive army and love to get stuck in , in the fight phase. Bearing that in mind it’s probably best to equip your intercessors with Auto-Bolt Rifles, giving them Assault 3. This means they can fire off three shots each in the shooting phase and still charge. Plus if you use the Stratagem Rapid Fire, they can all shoot again. This is particularly good if you decide to run them as a large squad of 10 instead of two groups of five.

You can also give on of these units the Stratagem Cunning of the Wolf for 1CP, used during the deployment phase, it’ll give them the outflank ability allowing them to come in on one of your movement phases 6″ away from any table edge and 9″ away from the enemy. Even better to get them stuck in sooner.

If you are wanting to charge and you’re not in Assault Doctrine, you can spend 1CP on Bestial Nature which then treats the unit as if it is in Assault Doctrine. This is good for the Wolves as it means they’ll benefit from their Savage Fury detachment rule meaning that each roll to hit of 6 in melee will score an additional hit.

HOUNDS OF MORKAI

Super-powered Reivers!

With a grapnel launcher equipped as standard this unit already benefits from the outflank ability that you can purchase through the use of Stratagems for your other core units. They’re a good anti-psyker unit too! If they’re the closest enemy unit to a Psyker, then that Psyker will have to target them with any Psychic powers, while also suffering from -1 on any psychic tests that they take if they’re within 18″ of the Hounds of Morkai, or -2 if they’re within 6″. Plus, the Hounds of Morkai get to add 1 to their hit rolls and 1 to their damage rolls if they’re targeting a Psyker.

If you’re using a mission which has the Strategic Reserves rule and you’re more than 6″ away from an enemy, then you can spend 1CP on the stratagem Guerilla Tactics, to place them in reserve. You can then set them in the following turn using the outflank ability once more.

INVICTOR TACTICAL WARSUIT

This and your Stormwolf make up the ant-armour elements of your army. With the Twin Ironhail autocannon this walker can take on a lot of the lighter vehicles in the game and take a wound or two of larger tanks as well.

Also good at getting into combat with vehicles and using its 4 attacks at S14 to smash most tanks to pieces. With its Concealed Positions rule, you can set this up at the start of the game 9″ away from the enemy deployment zone and enemy models to help do just that!

WULFEN

Crazy Boys

Shove these inside your Stormwolf fly them up the table then drop them in amongst the enemy lines and watch your opponent panic. Give a couple Thunder Hammer and shields that way if they’re targeted you can use their 2+ saves against small arms fire and their 4+ save against heavier weapons. This will give them a bit more survivability when you need it.

They’re always treated as being in the Combat Assault doctrine and so will always benefit from Savage Fury as described earlier.

STORMWOLF

The Stormwolf will have two roles inside out list, the first is it makes a perfect transport to move the Wulfen around the table. The second role it can perform is as an anti-vehicle unit. With its powerful strength 9 lascannon and strength 7 Skyhammer Missile Launcher it can dish out some serious wounds on most light armoured vehicles in a single turn. As it can fly your opponent is going to subtract 1 from their hit rolls that target it as well.

WHAT NEXT?

Well once you’ve got that lot painted and have a few games under your belt, you may want to think about another HQ unit at the very least. Bjorn the Fell-handed could be good for this, or any of the other great Space Wolf special characters. Even if you choose not to get Bjorn, perhaps consider purchasing a Wulfen Dreadnought…….

I hope you enjoyed this, please let me know in the comments below how you would build a 1,000 point list from the Combat Patrol Box and why not also let me know what you think to my list. There may well be aspects of the codex or units that I have not included that you think should be, so why not let us know in the comments below.

Painting Competition Open to Entries

So after the failed attempt of deciding a winner the first time around via voting, we’ve decided to reopen the competition to entries.

The winner will be decided by a panel of judges and the winner will receive their choice of start collecting or Combat Patrol box. This is made possible by our generous sponsors at SCN Hobby World.

You’ll have until 31st December to make your submission. As before the rules are as follows;

1) your submission can be any miniature from any games system, as long as;

2) the miniature fits on a 50mm wide base (round or square)

3) One submission per person

4) one of the photographs submitted with the miniature must include it with a note showing the email address of the competitor.

5) entry for submissions closes at midnight (GMT) on 31st December 2021

6) send your submissions to thewoehammer@gmail.com

The Woehammer Painting Competition

This is just a reminder that we have a painting competition taking place where the winner gets their choice of a Start Collecting or Combat Patrol box. We wouldn’t be able to give away this fantastic prize without the support of our good friends at SCN Hobby World. Why not join their emailing list and receive 25% off Games Workshop products whenever you place an order with them?

To enter you’ll need to paint a miniature with a base size no larger than 50mm and send it’s picture to thewoehammer@gmail.com. you’ll also need to send a small fee of £1 to the same address via PayPal. Your miniature doesn’t even have to be a Games Workshop model, it can be from any range you like.

One of your pictures must include a picture of your email address on a handwritten note. This should prevent people using internet photos for their submissions.

The closing date of the competition is 30th November where submissions will be placed into groupings of four and placed on the Woehammer Twitter account for a poll. The winner of these polls continue into the next round and so on until only one submission remains.

There you have it, get painting! If you want to find out more then either please leave a comment below, on my twitter profile or as an email to thewoehammer@gmail.com.

#Woehammer Roundup 17th October 2021

Two submissions this week under the #Woehammer on Twitter. Both members of the team.

If you want to see your miniatures on the site remember to use the hashtag #woehammer either on Twitter or Instagram.

Dave has started a new 40k 9th Edition army, this time focusing on the Space Marine Chapter the Imperial Fists. The model below is his first Marine for the army, and I think you’ll agree its a stunner!

Dave’s Imperial Fist

Dave has gone for an awesome golden yellow armour tone and black trim denoting the 5th Company.

The detail on the base is great, and I especially love the coiled barbed wire and spent casings next to the dismembered head.

It’s little different this week for Declan’s submission, here we have an army shot of the force he took to Mancunian Carnage last weekend.

The blue armour really stands out along with the spots of Red. Declan has joked in the past that his Orcs have been called the Crimson Fists. It’s a great army and Declan finished the weekend 3-2!

And talking of Declan’s fantastic tournament performance, only yesterday he was interviewed by the AOS Coach on YouTube about the Gloomspite Gitz! I’ve included the video below for you to watch.

Remember to use the #woehammer for your painting. While you’re at it why don’t you check out our painting competition below where you could win a Start Collecting or Combat Patrol box of your choice all thanks to our sponsors SCN Hobby World. By signing up to their mailing list you receive 25% off all GW products or 15% for the web only products.

A Tale of Painters – August 21′

On our YouTube channel we had a series known as A Tale of Painters. However, since life has got in the way a little recently and my time for filming and editing videos is very limited o thought it would be best to continue the series in the blog.

So I’ve included (most) of the Woehammer team below and what they’ve been working on since our last episode.

40k Ben

Since the last episode, Ben has been busy on a number of projects. But perhaps his most impressive in this time is his Bel’akor. Ben has even done some on source lighting to great effect!

Bel’akor

Ben even had his first few games of Age of Sigmar against AoS Ben and Declan.

40k Ben’s Chaos v AoS Ben’s Seraphon

As well as this Ben set himself the challenge of painting all this:

For September! As you can see he’s already well on target.

Dave

Dave has started a new Ossiarch Bone Repears army, and has given himself a deadline of 3rd October to have them done. His entire army is around 50 models and so far he’s painted one……

AoS Ben

As always Ben has been extremely busy, as well as finishing his Seraphon army and attending a few tournaments he’s now decided to build another Kharadron Overlord army, the Ghostlords 2.0!

Ben’s Seraphon army

All of his models are always painted to a very high standard and his basing is, in my opinion world class.

Ben recently completed Spiderman using just contrast paints:

Friendly neighborhood Spiderman

Ben also painted the Kruleboy half of the Dominion boxed set:

Ben’s Kruleboyz

Declan

Declan has been busy painting some more units for his Goblin Warmaster army:

Warmaster Goblin Wolf Riders

He’s also recently gotten into Kill Team and has painted up some scenery for his games.

Liam

Liam hasn’t had as much time as he would like to paint. But saying that he’s now down to fifteen models in his pile of shame. He did manage to paint Ghazghkull:

Paul

As always Paul has probably painted around 15 armies in the time since our last episode.

Paul has recently painted a lot of stormcast in order to play Path to Glory in his local gaming club.

Some of Paul’s Stormcast

He’s also been cracking on with his historicals backlog…..

Sexy Saxons

Sarah

Our plastic crack dealer from SCN Hobby World has been continuing her amazing work on her Orks. With an amazingly grubby looking dreadnought.

Green is Mean…

Ed

Ed has been cracking on with his Lumineth to make sure that they’re ready for his first tournament.

Ed was so keen on getting these ready he even had a roadmap for their painting schedule..

As you can see his models are coming on nicely…..

Ed’s Kangaroos

Guests

Jack

This time around we have a guest on our episode. Jack has submitted his Trogg via email to thewoehammer@gmail.com.

The skin on this Troggoth is awesome and you can really get a sense of the icy effect that Jack was after. I’d love to see an entire army of these boys.

If you’d like to submit models for us to look at and include then please either email us at thewoehammer@gmail.comor use #woehammer on Twitter or Instagram.

Don’t forget that we’re doing our first painting competition sponsored by SCN Hobby World where you can win your choice of a Start Collecting or Combat Patrol box for painting any single miniature on a 50mm base. For details see our post on the competition here.
