SCN Hobby World – Aeldari reinforcements are on their way!

Hello everyone! Hope you are safe and well. Good luck to everyone playing in tournaments today. Again I am working so I will miss popping in to the one being held by Savage Hammer gaming. Check them out and their future events. They have just been recognised as an official tournament organiser by Games Workshop.

I feel like this could be another busy weekend. Aeldari are proving very popular and from the look of the models up for pre-order there is some really cool reinforcements available for your Aeldari army.

Here is all your new releases up for pre-order;

WH40K: TEMPEST OF WAR CARD DECK (ENG) RRP £19-25%= £14.25
AELDARI: SHINING SPEARS RRP £37.50-25%= £28.13
AELDARI: RANGERS RRP £35-25%= £26.25
AELDARI: AUTARCH RRP £24-25%= £18
COMBAT PATROL: AELDARI RRP £90-25%= £67.50
AELDARI: AVATAR OF KHAINE RRP £60-25%= £45
AELDARI: SHROUD RUNNERS RRP £40-25%= £30
URDESH: THE SERPENT AND THE SAINT (PB) RRP £8.99-25%= £6.74

Below is information regarding some releases that are still in store but once they’re gone they’re gone. I do have stock of a few older dice sets, data cards/ warscrolls cards in store. If you’ve missed something and would like to check store stock send a message.

  • Black Library Limited Editions
  • Ghazghkull Thraka: Prophet of the Waaagh (limited Edition HB) £40
  • Dominion Orukk Cover Limited Edition £40
  • Dominion Stormcast Eternal Cover Limited Edition £40
  • Penitent Limited edition £40

I can get ANY GW line for you. If it’s not on our list (of over 1,500 lines at 25% off!), that means it will be 15% off, as I must do it via the website, where discount is much reduced, to me. As well as our Games Workshop discount we have discounts on Bolt Action, Marvel Crisis Protocol and more.

This is hopefully going to make ordering a lot easier for everyone, but please remember I don’t hold all items in store, so the shipping delay may still apply while waiting for stock to arrive. The best time to place orders is by Sunday 6pm so I can collect all the information and order stock on Monday and get it to you in a good time frame.

Web only items are on there too, so please appreciate the fact that I can offer these at a discounted price (though a little less than the usual 25%) but I have to order them direct from the GW website just as you would do and if there is no stock, I also have to wait till they come back in, and this may cause shipping delays.

Any questions or queries on this process please send me an email.
You can place your orders via the website or via the order form, whichever works best for you :0)

All orders placed via the website that are over £95 qualify for free Shipping.

Don’t forget the order cut-off is 6pm sharp Sunday. Anything after that rolls to next week’s order.

How to order, pay etc – VERY important to read:
Below is how to lay your hands on the below at 25% off:

Brushes
Terrain
Black Library novels and audio books
Glues
Hobby supplies
Carry cases
Models…of course
White Dwarf
Getting started boxes
Games

Paint is at a 15% discount

How to order:

Sign up to the mailing list by messaging us on Facebook or emailing us at scnhobbyworld@outlook.com

Fill in the order form which gets attached to your weekly email that I send – simply add the quantity you want of any line in the pink “order” column. The sheet will keep a running total for you. There is a full list and one for all single paints, brushes and tools

Email the completed form to me at scnhobbyworld@outlook.com

I place the order at 6pm sharp on a Sunday – any orders from 6:01pm onwards will be rolled to the following week

Orders will only be made once payment has been received

The new EASIER way to order is via the website www.scn-hobby-world.com

What if the models I want are not on the list?
If they are on the GW website, I can order them for you. Just tell me what you need in your email.

These carry a 15% discount instead of the usual 25% discount – this is because my discount is reduced too.

Getting your order to you:
You can collect or have your items posted – all the details are below, including my business address for collection.

For Collection – see shop address at the bottom of this email (opening times and closing times apply)

Postage:
Most orders are small (fit in a box no bigger than 16x35x45cm and under 2kg weight). These always cost £4.20 and use Royal Mail 2nd Class signed for.

Larger orders will be more – typically £7.19 Evri (new name for Hermes)/ £8.90 parcel force/ by courier of your choice. Dependent on weight and size prices vary.

Orders online via the website over £95 are free shipping

EU orders will be more – ask and I’ll get a price for you, depending on pack size and country.

I will always let you know postage before you pay.

I’m happy to store and bundle multiple orders in to single postage/collections to save you time and money – even for multiple people, if it’s helpful for your groups.

I’m also happy to hold multiple orders over a period of weeks or months for you, securely, so you can have them shipped in bigger batches, and save multiple postage costs. Totally up to you. If you choose to part ship your order, you will have to cover both shipping costs.

Note that you can never have new release models until the actual release date

Quick Update

Hi all, hope you all enjoyed Declan’s great review of Burning Skies today.

As a lot of you know, I was also supposed to attend this event, however I was struck down with Papa Nurgle’s blessings.

As a result you’ll have noticed that there was no “What is…” Posts this weekend or any update for the Sci-Fi Wargame today. I’m hoping I’ll be well enough to start posting again tomorrow, but all I can do in the meantime is apologise and rely on Declan to carry the load for the next day or so… Thank you Declan.

The Battle of Burning Skies Preview

This weekend I’m taking part in my first AoS tournament, Battle of Burning Skies is run by the legends at Savage Hammer Gaming and Greetings from the Warp, and is sponsored by none other than fellow Woehammerer Sarah and SCN Hobbies.

This is my first tournament of any kind since 1999 (yes, I’m that old). All the lists are available on Best Coast Pairing if you have a subscription so I thought I would cover three of the lists which I believe have the potential to win.

Savage Hammer Gaming have a number of events upcoming this year all based in Bedford, for both 40k and AoS. So if you want to keep updated on them or want to come along to an event why not check them out on Eventbrite.

Favourite Declan Waters – Big Waaagh!

Declan has come off the back of two tournament tournament wins and a second place, being undefeated in all three. A win at Dazmaul Wargaming and the Chumpionship tournament, and a second place at Raging Rivers so its hard to ignore his potential to make it three wins on the trot. Declan is running his favourite Big Waaagh! once more which suits his punch second gaming style.

Christine Coram – Ironjaws

After starting the year playing Daughters of Khaine, Christine swapped to her old favourites Ironjaws for the Chumpionship, and boy what a swap! Christine finished 2nd in the event to Declan with her Ironjaws list and I’ve no doubt her list has the potential for three wins this weekend. WHAT’S THAT COMING OVER THE HILL? IS IT KRAGNOS, IS IT KRAGNOOOOSSSS?! Lots of big stompy monsters here, with a recently upgraded Kragnos who can do a lot of heavy lifting alongside the ubiquitous Maw-Krusha. This list is bound to crush face.

Christian Moore – Legion of the First Prince

We’ve seen versions of Christian’s list on many top 3’s recently so it’s hard to ignore the potential for him to place high up in the rankings this weekend. Christian is a seasoned pro and went 5-0 at Blackout V with his Soulblight Dynasty he has swapped them this time around for Legion and I think he has the potential to push Declan to the end on this one.

VOTE – Stormcast Scheme for Stormbringer

I’ve had many responses to my question on whether I should follow the Magazine steps or create my own using an original scheme. The opinion was unanimous in that I should create a guide for an original scheme.

Therefore I have come up with some designs below. These aren’t all original and one or two are other GW stormhost, but I thought I would include these in case people wanted a guide on those.

Below are all the schemes followed by a poll at the end.

Scheme 1 – Celestial Warbringers (GW Scheme)

Scheme 2 – Hallowed Knights (GW)

Last Weeks Poll Results for Orders

Here are the results from last weeks polls.

Based on these results, the following wording will be added to our living rules:

SPACECRAFT SHOOTING
When firing SPACECRAFT a hit roll of 6 will allow the attacking player to choose which SPACECRAFT system has been affected. If the attacking player successfully hits the enemy SPACECRAFT but does not roll a 6, then a system is chosen at random using the following table;

1-2  – Weapons
3 – Shields
4 – Propulsion
5 – Transported Units
6 – Navigation

SPACECRAFT DAMAGE
Instead of having a MORALE STATUS, SPACECRAFT will suffer damage to their systems from successful hits made against them. Shooting in SPACE COMBAT is carried out in the same fashion as the other theatres of war.

Each SPACECRAFT have a number of systems that can be targeted or suffer damage during SPACE COMBAT. Each system will have an effect on how the SPACECRAFT will operate in future turns. These systems are;

Weapons (-1 to hit rolls when damaged)
Shields (+1 to enemy hit rolls when damaged)
Propulsion (half movement speed)
Transported Units (Transported unit suffer 1 level of degradation in MORALE STATUS)
Navigation (SPACECRAFT is unable to turn)

Each of these systems are able to suffer two hits before failing and causing damage to the SPACECRAFT. Damage can be repaired through the use of ORDERS. If two or more systems reach two damage then the ship is considered DESTROYED)

THIS WEEKS POLLS

This week I want to focus on faction creation.

A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game lets players take control of their favorite Houses from the novels — represented by trays of high-quality, pre-assembled miniatures — and lead them into battle against their opponents. Players can recreate their favorite moments from the series or create their own stories. What if the Red Wedding never happened, and Robb Stark assaulted King’s Landing? Now fans can find out!

Battles can range from large-scale wars with hundreds of miniatures to simple skirmishes between a few units without complicating the elegantly designed rules. The game features several unique systems, including alternating activations that keep the players engaged; a Rank System that changes a unit’s capabilities as the battle rages on; a Tactics System that provides strategic powers fueled by a finite resource each round; and, most importantly, the iconic Heroes, such as Robb Stark and Jaime Lannister, that can change the course of war both on and off the battlefield.

Three Sails Gaming have produced a great getting started video on A Song of Ice and Fire.

Rules & Miniatures

All the rules and miniatures can be purchased from Cmon website, though I’m sure some FLGS will offer discounts on these prices.

They have numerous starter armies for the game with one for each faction, and the miniatures look great!

The Drowned Earth is a tabletop miniatures game where brave heroes and villains risk the dangers of the wilds for glorious riches and ancient technology!

Played on a 3ftx3ft table with 5-15 models a side, TDE is a game of dynamic movement, cinematic action and narrative gameplay, where risk vs reward must be weighed every turn.

At the heart of the game is the Dynamic Movement system, where models can leap, climb, jump off buildings and shoot while doing so!

A combination of cinematic action and an emphasis on named characters means that TDE has a very narrative feel: each game tells a story.

On Table Top have produced a great getting started video on Drowned Earth. I recommend these chaps if you ever want a decent introduction of a wargame.
