This is the top three AoS lists for Halloween Hoedown that took place in the UK on the 28th and 29th of October. It saw 14 players vying to be crowned champion in a 5-game tournament.

Because the tournament has 20 or less players we won’t be commenting on the lists.

Roland Rivera: Most Khorne lists are fairly controlling and playing to the board, but this one goes a step further than most with the inclusion of Be’lakor. While he costs quite a few points, he also adds a lot of depth to Khorne’s control toolbox, and provides access to spellcasting, which is yet another layer of buffs you can stack on your units.

In this list’s case, the units receiving the buffs will mostly be the Bloodthirsters that are accompanying Be’lakor, with the Unfettered Rage Thirster providing utility and defense and Skarbrand providing raw offensive punch. Beyond that, this list has lots of cheap bodies used to pressure objectives and generate Blood Tithe, a couple of Priests to chant prayers and Invocations with, and a Skull Cannon to thin down screens or finish off wounded units with.

While this list doesn’t quite have the number of boots on the ground that a typical Khorne list does, it more than makes up for it with its expanded control toolbox and ability to concentrate force exactly where you want it. Not an easy list to play, but very potent if you can master it.

Roland Rivera: This list is going heavy on the Hero Monsters – not only does it have the Glottkin, but it also has all 3 Unique Maggoth Lords, which make for very potent dance partners when you active your Blightkrieg ability. Orghotts has the best raw numbers, Bloab brings utility via spellcasting buffs and ebuffs, and Morbidex is a tough fighter that is virtually immune to chip damage.

As these units take up most of the list, you’re mostly limited to pairing them with Plaguebearers to meet minimum Battleline, but having cheap, durable bodies is a perfect complement to elite Hero Monsters. Throw in a mortal Rotbringer Sorcerer for a bit of magical support and the ability to manipulate the Wheel of Corruption, and it’s clear to see that this list is trying to set up combat scenarios with power units in which you have every advantage going for you.
