Lord Executioner (150 Points)

• Ruler of the Spectral Hosts- OPB return half strength unit
• Lightshard of the Harvest Moon – OPB +1 attacks 12”

Fittsy: We’ve got a 1st place here with this list… so is it bringing some secret sauce or some pro piloting (with a healthy dash of being the faction with the highest winrate at the moment).

We see a lot of the standard Nighthaunt choices here with a 2 drop Death Stalkers (for run/retreat and charge), together with the Morbid Conjuration. We’ve also got a Lord Executioner with the classic Lightshard for +1 attacks in a bubble once per game and Ruler for returning a unit at half health once per game. Lord Ex is seeing quite a bit of play… a bit more than half the lists but isn’t an auto choice. They’re a nice tough little hero that can be taken within a regiment to keep the lists down to 2 drops whilst taking 2 named heroes.

The first regiment is what we expect from NH in today’s meta. Lady O plus Bladegheists and Hexwraiths. 2 reinforced units of Bladegheists is nasty to come up against on any day but here Tad has chosen to take Awlrach with the ability to teleport a unit to outside 7” each turn. Rounding out the list is two non-reinforced units of Harridans.
It looks like Tad has had a good run with 5 wins including against Maggotkin who are a tough matchup for NH (they’re at a 58% win rate against NH) and a win into the mirror match in round 4. Going 5-0 is still no walk in the park for NH and doing so plus taking out 1st place is a good result here for Tad!

Jeremy Lefebvre: I built this list, to make it hard to handle, people look for the biggest and try to remove them, which is the 10 knight, but jokes on them that is there point, to be the distraction, while all the other units do death by 1000 cuts, and lots tools that allow me to remove Wizards and manifestations. Which in this edition are huge. Only having 1 wizard myself and still going with morbid is most because shackles the best spell in the game, even if you only have 1 cast. and it needs a HUGE nerf.

Darkspawn are great threat. they will out grind most other cav in the game, even if they GET charged. And I had 15 metal ones from fantasy, so I was happy to finally field them. I had to reinforce one unit of them because listing building in 4th is abysmal. Trying to take all the different heroes you need for cities to work, you are very limited in what you can take.

In deployment, I try to counter deploy and put the knights or witch hunters counter to whatever big units they have. and then force you to move. I try to take the flanks early and close in on the center. if you want to take the flank, I will take the knight or whatever and try to crush whatever you have. Cities are faster than people think with just the +3 move order and 3d6 charge spell. So people aren’t safe from the big block of knights, I actually prefer them to get charged, so they get a 5+ ward. The list is very good and going on standing on points, and making you come to me. even with little shooting. because with the free guild marshal, giving out bonus controler, the Command core goes up 16 control, and the van dents are 5 each. it starts to add up quickly.

So the name of the game is to sit on objectives and grind you out while killing wizards. Callis and toll, making it hard for people to use honor guard well. and forces people to castle tighter than they want. because they can deep strike, move 3, shoot 13, and charge ( needed a 6″) which failed more often, but getting them in early and taking out a wizard, or delaying their army for a whole turn, while I spread out and took control of the battle field.

Had a great time, bring the cold one knights out, and get to play at such a great event, even if I didn’t get to sleep the night before the event due to travel woes.

  1. So happy to see Cities of Sigmar in top 3. The typical units like Hammerers and Dark Elves give me hope that GW will see and let them stay in the Battletome… LOL
