We’re back! And it’s been sometime since we’ve seen a Gitz 5-0. So let’s jump right into the breakdown.

Like most Gitz lists in 4th edition, we start with a Rockgut core. This time, however, Johnathan turned the dial up to 10. Everything in the list (barring Skragrott) is a Troggoth. So the obvious play is to run the Troggherd battle formation for the extra healing.

The three Rockgut units are the core of the list, doubling as both anvil and hammer, and are truly a menace to try to kill.

Trugg and his Malfunctioning Leystone ability act as both a buff piece and another hammer.

Skragrott is there primarily for Moon control and to be a two cast wizard, making use of his manifestation lore, Sneaky Distraction and Fangz of Da Bad Moon primarily.

The Dankhold Troggboss uses it’s Shepherd of Destruction ability to give +1 attacks to Troggoths and can do pretty good output himself. With Loontouched he is a Wizard(1) and the Clammy Cowl subtracts -1 to hit for all attacks that target him.

The Dankhold Troggoth uses its Wade and Smash ability as a positioning tool and to contribute a little bit of mortal damage in the process and allows him to pick and choose the battles he wants to fight.

So how does it play? Well, depending on the matchup, it generally runs as a castle or split castle army that takes objectives and doesn’t give them back. A pure grinder style list that wants to fight it out on top of the circles.

The slightly unexpected thing in this particular build is that Johnathan chose to make it a 3 drop instead of making it a 2 drop. I’d imagine he was hoping to double up on Honor Guard abilities by doing so.

Congrats to Johnathan on the First Place 5-0!

At Woehammer we are the very pinnacle of fairness and we treat all armies equally. But… Gloomspite with a 5-0 – Bravo Jonathan!! Gloomspite are dead-on 50/50 win/loss in our stats, so they are definitely in a better place, but it’s still great to see a tournament winner with them.

Jonathan has brought Troggs and a few friends!! Lots of Troggs including their King – Trugg. Troggs have been good for a while now and with 15 Rockgut Troggoths, you’ll know exactly where I’m going – are they hammers/anvils/distraction pieces or a bit of all three?

They have a nice and simple warscroll – which is needed when your general is Skragrott (who needs to read?)

With 15 health in a unit (30 in a reinforced unit), a 4+ save and a D3 heal at the beginning of each turn these guys can definitely fulfil the anvil requirement of AoS4. They will take a lot of chewing through. But wait… they can also hit back hard. 2 attacks hitting on 4s is going to mean you’ll want All Out Attack a lot as missing really hurts, but when they hit 2s to wound, rend 2 and damage 3 causes real headaches. They are punching through armour and taking our Chaos Chosen in one hit (if they fail armour).

They also come with a much more streamlined ranged attack which also hits very badly (5+ on this), but with 6 of them in a reinforced unit if you have spare command points boosting this to a 4+ is not the worst idea. Rend 2 and Damage D3 means that this can’t be ignored – so Hammers as well.

What a great unit and no surprise to see Jonathan spending so many points on them in his quest for a 5-0

Apologies, there was no list published for the Lumineth on BCP

Luis Mendoza: Congratulations on that 3rd place, with a valuable 4 – 1. Good work!

The list with Big dragons continues getting many good results, which is a reflection of the versatility and response to different options that can be presented, and despite the fact that on this occasion it does not contain units that bring magic abilities, it does contain other abilities that allow the game to be balanced. Let’s review the list.

The list, which, despite being very elite and agglomerating all the units in a single drop, allows you to decide priority and seeking complete dominance through board position and lethality in melee.

Karazai, the centerpiece of the list, is a melee specialist, and the durability provided by the Praetors causes a high defense game, mainly if he benefits from the Bodyguard abilities, with the chance of reducing the attack characteristic of enemy units in melee combat up to -2, if combined with Karazai’s Ancient Master of War ability.  This combination boosts the Warmaster’s resilience, which inversely increases his attack stat as he gains damage points. The perfect hammer.

And like every hammer, an anvil is required, in this case a reinforced Stormdrake Guard unit, 36 health points, with 25 attacks per Drakerider’s sword and the Draconith Onslaught ability to increase the area of action and engage a second nearby enemy unit.

Finally, once again, we find the duo formed by Raptors and Prosecutors, combining Deep Strike with long-range elite shooting, mainly to eliminate threats such as shooting units and support heroes.  With the mobility provided by the Raptors’ warscroll and the Vanguard Wing ability – currently the Battle Formation with the highest Win Rate – to jump to any part of the field more than 9″ from enemy units on a 3+ die roll. Adding to the mobility is the SCE terrain faction, Stormreach Portal, to transport any non-monster unit to any part of the field more than 9″ from enemy units.

Congrats once again to Clay.
