Nate: Footprint-light would be an understatement for Marco’s list, but this is quite standard for index Seraphon with their high point costs. Five of the nine units he’s fielding contain only a single model, and of the remaining four the largest have only six; And then to top this off a third of the list can start off the board in reserve.
To remediate this lack of board presence Marco has gone heavy on starting mobility with the Eternal Starhost as his formation, allowing his Slann or Skink to send units across the board in his movement phase. As this ability is no longer tied to succeeding a dice roll it gives Seraphon Stormcast levels of mobility. In addition we see the beastmaster trait taken for the Starseer, providing 2″ of extra movement to nearby cavalry and monsters, helping them get where they need to be. The Starseer also enables the Slann relay ability to provide more board coverage to their spells.
The design of the army seems to be a classic hammer and anvil, with an extremely durable bunker of Bastiladons (12 health on a 2+ save), which have seen a significant increase in use since the beginning of the season, and a unit of Saurus Guard providing a 5++ ward to themselves and their nearby Slann. Stacking on top of this is the ability to take -1 to enemy rend within friendly territory and the healing provided by the Lore of the Primal Jungles and Primal Energy manifestation choices pumping out healing each turn to the Bastiladons you have an extremely tough wall of scales to punch through that will be biting back with considerable hitting power from the monsters and reliable chip mortals.
For the hammer side we have the ever reliable but slow six stack of Kroxigors that will punch through just about anything with the auto-wounds and bonus rend that can be provided through spells. On the faster side of the spectrum, though with no less teeth, we have a SoA Scar-Veteran on mount putting a reinforced unit of Aggradon Lancers into deepstrike that can come from any board edge, or as close as 5″ away from a vulnerable enemy unit if they dare to make a shooting attack.
For Marco’s last unit we have the classic singular Hunters of Huanchi all-purpose lads. Put them down on an undefended point, in a corner to score, behind a unit to block an escape, in front of a unit to screen. There’s really not a bad use for the unit at 90 points.
And of course with the late SoG change to the Slann any time any of these non-Bastiladon, high-cost, high-value units die, you’re going to see 50% of them again at the cost of a command point.
Finally regarding battle tactics we have some standard picks of Blazing Onslaught and Siege of Ashes. Blazing Onslaught should never be too hard for this list to achieve with it’s spell damage, charge damage via manifestations, and shooting from the Ark of Sotek and Hunters. Then it’s just a matter of teleporting a unit onto the enemies hideout, or fighting them off with your Aggradons. Siege of Ashes likewise feels like a solid pick for a hammer and anvil style list as this, using the mobility provided by the battleformation and beastmaster trait to quickly score the first step and then holding down the fort with the Bastialdons and letting the next two steps basically complete themselves as the rest of your units catch up.

Rodrigo Castillo: The list is designed to operate like a pincer, controlling objectives while delivering precise, concentrated ranged damage through the Man-skewer Boltboyz and Beast-skewer Killbow during the early turns. Meanwhile, Da Hurtlin’ Hogz advance out of friendly territory without exposing themselves to an immediate counter-charge, building Momentum to increase their damage output later in the game.
The Gutrippaz remain close to the Boltboyz, ready to support them if the enemy commits to a charge. Their presence acts as a deterrent while allowing the army to control objectives through threat projection. At this point, the opponent begins to realise that the formation is a trap hidden in plain sight, leaving them with two main options:
They can risk charging the Boltboyz, knowing that the unit may be teleported away with the Sneaky Sneakin’ Dirty Trick. This could leave the attacking unit exposed to a Gutrippaz counter-charge in the following turn, potentially with Venom-encrusted Weapons triggering critical hits on a 5+.
Alternatively, they can attempt a longer charge into the Gutrippaz and become tied up against them, leaving themselves vulnerable to another full round of shooting. At the same time, the Breaka-boss on Mirebrute Troggoth can teleport into the enemy backfield to eliminate wizards or support units, capture objectives and complete battle tactics.
During the second stage of the game, the opponent is pressured into committing to combat under unfavourable conditions. Both the Mirebrute Troggoth and Da Hurtlin’ Hogz are positioned to counter-attack, while the army can apply strike-last pressure from two different sources: the Kruleboyz Dirty Tricks and Da Hurtlin’ Hogz. If the opponent refuses to engage, the list can use that same pressure proactively, supported by its ranged units.
The army ultimately attacks from the flanks and rear while gradually taking control of the battlefield through its mobility and teleportation tools.
The Mirebrute Troggoth and Da Hurtlin’ Hogz are particularly important because they provide two things the army naturally needs: mobility—whether through conventional movement or teleportation—and a source of reliable, high-Rend damage.

Luis Mendoza (Warhammex): I want to give full credit to David Rodriguez, my teammate at The Stormkeep, who created the original build for The Lone Star Open 2026. You can read his own analysis of the list in the Top Three article here. I took his list to this Tournament without any previous game preparation, so the list construction is entirely his work; my contribution was choosing it for the event and piloting it through the tournament.

Jarod Brown (Rage Babies YouTube): David Galán tore through the tournament field with this 2,000 point Fyreslayers Forge Brethren list, proving that sheer dwarven grit and unstoppable defense can absolutely bully the meta! Which is no easy feat as this faction hasn’t always been a top performer. At the heart of David’s army is an nigh unkillable central castle led by an Auric Runefather and a Battlesmith, flanked by two reinforced units of Auric Hearthguard and a massive 20-man block of Vulkite Berzerkers. David plays this core like an absolute brick wall.. layering + to save w/ ward saves and hero protection to soak up insane amounts of damage before blasting enemies off the board with devastating ranged counter-punches. And just when opponents think they can outmaneuver the slow moving infantry, David unleashes an Auric Runeson on a Magmadroth alongside a unit of Vulkyn Flameseekers, slamming a fast, high-impact monster straight into enemy lines to shatter formations and demand immediate answers!
What makes David’s run so dominant is how effortlessly this list grabs control of the entire battlefield. By running an Auric Runemaster with three separate units of Vulkite Berzerkers, he floods objectives with body count, mortal wound splash, all while an Auric Runesmiter brings terrifying tunneling plays to threaten the enemy backline out of nowhere. Backed by the Magmic Battleforge, Zharrgrim prayers, and game-changing Magmic Invocations, the list pumps out endless utility and continuous pressure. Even running at a 4-drop setup and usually giving up the first turn, David turned that into an advantage.. welcoming incoming charges, holding the line, and relentlessly grinding down every opponent in his way to a top-tier finish! Great work fulfilling your slayer oath David!
