This is the top three AoS lists for the Trøndermaster that took place in Norway on the 25th and 26th of January 2025. It saw 16 players in a doubles format vying to be crowned champion in a 5-game tournament.

Stormcast Eternals are flying high after their armour changes with AoS4 and are taking on all comers with a win-rate of 56% – slightly above where we would like them to be.
And talking of flying, Geir’s brought a Vanguard Wing! And taken it to the heights of a 5-0. His force is made up of 3 big hitters, and then some helpful support units. We all know Palladors and Raptors are good… who doesn’t want to bring a gun to a knife fight, but is Krondys viable in AoS4? Geir’s answer is a resounding yes, so let’s take a brief look at the scroll to see what’s going on!
20 health on a 3+ save… wow he’s not going anywhere – except the 12″ movement really means you’re not stopping him going where he wants. Like the Bloodthirster reviewed yesterday, he comes with a small ranged weapon that can take out screens, or at least damage them enough that he can get in… and then there’s a whole page of abilities.
Krondys is magical, so he can reach out within 18″ and reduce opponents armour save, hit rolls, or rend. Perfect for making those Raptors kill whatever they are shooting at. And when he gets into combat he can turn off opponents command abilities (on 3+) and hits like a freight train – able to get to the key 2+/2+ hit/wound nirvana. I’m not surprised he went 5-0 with these 3 units.

My second FEC list to review in as many days… and the stats don’t lie, as they are above 60% win-rate… oh dear! Jason has brought Morbeg knights which I mentioned briefly yesterday. So let’s look at the Mortarch of Delusion to see what he brings to the table.
He’s another beast of a monster with 16 health and 4+ save, although he does suffer slightly when he has taken 10 damage (-2 attacks on his Monstrous Talons). Like Krondys he has a wall of text on his warscroll.
He needs to be in combat quick and early to get his Noble Deeds working, but when it does the bubble for the Feeding Frenzy is insane – at 24″. Feeding Frenzy adds 1 to the attacks of FEC units, and a 24″ bubble is covering most of the table. To keep him alive, he can make enemy units strike last (selecting up to 3 enemy unit each combat phase… so yes on your opponents turn also). His ‘Epicentre of Delusion’ just reinforces his buffing abilities and wish to get in close and personal.
Expect this army to be on you, quick, and then mop up the objectives later.

Gloomspite is obviously the best army in the game and Marko took them 4-1 here, losing only to the eventual winner of the tournament. This will have been played before the release of the book so things may have changed as you’re reading this but the Troggoths and Squigs are still there and haven’t moved from their position in AoS3 as ‘pretty much essential’ in the Gloomspite List.
We obviously all love Troggs, but let’s take pre-book look at the Boingrot Bounderz – because who doesn’t love fully armoured knights charging forward with lances levelled?
It’s a simpler warscroll, but simple has a benefit all of it’s own, Bounders have retained their random movement but made much less random – as a player you can plan much better when the range is 7″- 12″, instead of 2″-12″. Their lances have some damage on the charge – but you need to get them there and with 2 wounds and 5+ armour these guts don’t like guns.
Definitely not up to the standard of AoS3 (when they were truly brutal … (not cunning) ) they still fill a role and lone heroes need to be wary of this unit.
