Roland Rivera: The ability to reinforce the bespoke units Age of Sigmar has inherited from Warcry that was introduced in the latest Battlescroll has had far-reaching consequences on the metagame, and we see a shining example of it here. Being able to reinforce Askurgan Trueblades makes them a combat block worth centering a gameplan around, and Nicolas has done exactly that to great effect.

To accompany the Trueblades, we have an eclectic max of units, tied together by their identity as Vampires. Vargheists bring speed with their 12″ flying move and teleport ability, Lauka Vai and the Vengorian Lord bring durability with their -1 Rend auras, and Radukar the Beast brings a secondary threat that can make great use of the Trueblades’ ability to impose strikes-last in combat.

Given the Vampire-centric nature of this list’s combat blocks, it’s no surprise to see Vhordrai as a fast, relatively tanky Hero that can buff any Vampire units that destroy enemy units in his vicinity. The list also features a bit of chaff in Kritza and some Fell Bats. All in all, this list has gone all-in on the Vampire gameplan, and was paid off handsomely for it.

Mike Mercurio: All hail the Everqueen!

Even after a few balance passes, Sylvaneth has held onto one of the top spots in army rankings and this list reflects exactly why.

For tactics, Tristan chose to lean into the tournament staple Siege of Ashes, and an interesting choice in Legend of the Parch. Which is not a popular choice currently, but does favor builds heavy on hero monsters.

This list leverages the army’s natural mobility on the table to dictate matchups and cause a headache for their opponent. Lords of the Clan supports the elite archetype by guaranteeing every Sylvaneth Monster heals flat 3 at the end of every turn, and the once per game Aspect of Heartwood on the Spite Revenants heals them for 6 health wherever they may be. Meaning you really need to hit them hard to take something down.

But first you need to survive the strike first. The combination of Alarielle, Belthanos, and Drycha means the army can deliver some big hitters anywhere on the board through either a 14-20” movement (with the run and charge spell) or Drycha’s unique teleport charge). Realmroot Guide allows the Warsong to take itself, it’s 12” -1 to wards bubble, and a friend anywhere it needs to be once per game. If it brings Durthu, you can combine with Drycha to give the big (tree)man +2 to charge rolls. Meaning that 9” now only needs a 7. And after all of this, the army can fade back behind some Dryad screens, the perfect way to gum up your hammers.

All in all, congratulations to Tristan on the 5-0. Hope to see the trend continue for them in the future.

Luis Mendoza: Congratulations to Romain Outters on an excellent 3rd-place finish with a 4–0–1 record! This Lords of the Clan list builds its pressure around four independent Monster threats: Alarielle, Belthanos, Drycha and Spirit of Durthu. Rather than concentrating its combat power in a reinforced unit, it spreads its threats across the battlefield, giving the opponent several high-value pieces to account for at once.

Lords of the Clan supports that structure through improved healing for Sylvaneth Monsters using Endless Growth. Alarielle anchors the army with her magical presence and support, while the Warsong Revenant adds access to the Spirit-Song prayer lore and helps extend the army’s use of the Creeping Overgrowth. Durthu and Belthanos add direct combat pressure, while Drycha brings positional disruption and the ability to project danger through the forest network.

The two units of Dryads and the Spite-Revenants form a lean but important scoring package. They can screen approaches and contest space while the Monster heroes focus on high-value engagements. Their role becomes especially relevant for Flanking Firestorm: its opening tactic rewards holding separate positions across the battlefield, while the later tactics ask the army to reach the corners and establish a presence in enemy territory. The Sylvaneth movement network can create those angles, but the list needs to stage units ahead of time; repositioning a unit that turn does not automatically make it eligible for every tactic.

Blazing Onslaught gives the list a different sequence of pressure. Its opening tactic asks the army to damage the same enemy unit in three different phases, where the list’s magic and combat threats can contribute to a coordinated attempt. From there, it must take the opponent’s chosen Hideout and then turn that control into further kills. The Monster heroes provide the force to contest that space, while the smaller units can help maintain control without pulling every major threat away from its target.

The Sylvaneth units in this list create scoring routes across the table, then concentrate enough pressure to seize and exploit the position. The list’s challenge is managing its limited number of support units while keeping those routes open. Romain’s 4–0–1 finish shows how effectively this pressure network performed at the event.

Shrine Luminor

Mike Mercurio: An elegant list from a more civilized age.

Lumineth has leaned heavily into its herohammer build since the battletome released, and this list leverages that to the hilt. We see the powerful Warhost of Duality, which when paired with Lyrior’s Strike First spell allows for up to 4 combat activations on the Lumineth player’s turn. The tag team of Sevireth and the Light of Eltharion also make their presence known. Not only able to help clear units wherever on the board, this power pair are also capable of fulfilling criteria for each of this list’s battle tactics in Siege of Ashes and Burning for Vengeance. Combined with the Twins End of Turn teleport, and potentially incredible damage, there’s enough to scalpel out their opponent’s key units and give them no chance to respond.

For units, Nicolas has chosen to focus on Riverblades and Winchargers. Two excellent utility units that complement the hero selection. Perfect Footwork on the Windchargers makes them an absolute nuisance. Able to pin enemy units in place then back away 6” when all the models are contesting an objective. Making what was supposed to be a 3” charge suddenly much more difficult. Riverblades offer an incredible mobility tool with their combat phase movement. Charge a hammer or screen, then move over it to a safer target, or into an awkward position to tie them down. Finally, the Calligrave allows you to change a previous rune once per game. Meaning that you can always have the secondary rube combo you need whenever you need it.

The toolbox is deep here, and the high mobility and teleport tools can make the army difficult to pin down.
