Space Marine Colour Schemes

Advertisements

Some time ago, I spent a considerable amount of time playing with impact. For those who don’t know Impact allows you to digitally paint models to test colour schemes for projects.

As such I ended up recreating and creating tonnes of Space Marine liveries for both cannon chapters and non-cannon chapters. This process eventually allowed me to create my own home brew Space Marine Chapter the Void Dragons.

But, I thought rather than deleting all that hard work or just leaving it on Pinterest where it won’t be used, why not share them with you. That way, you can view the colour schemes I’ve already made and pick one for your own Chapter should you wish….. Enjoy!

Birth of a Chapter

I’ve been asked a few times about the background to my homebrew Space Marine Chapter the Void Dragons. Therefore, I’ve written out here everything I have so far.

Genesis

The Primaris Marines of the Void Dragons Space Marine Chapter had been held in stasis for millenia within one of Archmagos Cawl’s many secret vaults. Following the Triumph on Raukos, Cawl travelled to his various secret locations activating the many Chapters held in stasis in order to reinforce the beleaguered Imperium.

Initially only known as Chapter 341 the Void Dragons as they were to be latterly known have no information on the origins of their Geneseed.

Tír

The Void Dragons were posted near to the world of Tír in the Ultima Segmentum. A small Feudal world with little to contribute to the wider Imperium. Only the upper echelons of the world’s leadership even had the vaguest idea that the Imperium even existed.

The populace of Tír was sparse but hardened against the many dangers of their planet, making them an ideal source of recruits for the newly formed Chapter. Wooden seagoing vessels plow the seas raiding rival lords (known as Cynig) lands. Vast Drake like monsters fly through the skies plucking livestock and peasants from the lands they pass over. Life is short on Tír.

Cynig of the 1st Company Grymund

The Space Marines of the Void Dragons found Tír would provide excellent prospective members for their chapter and so began recruiting from the planet. They established their fortress on the orbiting moon of Sable, able to oversee their planet and to protect the nearby shipping lanes through the Praxum Straight.

Organisation

The Void Dragons are a codex compliant chapter with the usual hierarchy. However rank names have been changed to reflect those of the planet they draw their recruits from.

The Chapter Master is known as Bretwalda and is voted for by the Cynigs (Captains) of the Chapter in a democratic process known as the Witan. Each Cynig has two Ealdormen (Lieutenants) serving their Company and each squad is led by a Thane (Sergeant).

The first Company are known as the Fehrweard (Guards of Life) and are the only company to have gold accents on their armour. The rest of the chapter are clad in a dark blue/green with white helms, Pauldrons, vambraces and gauntlets.

The Void Dragons do employ armsmen which are better equipped than your standard Planetary Defence Force. This standing army is also based on Sable and will deploy in force alongside their Chapter as and when needed.

Beliefs

Despite the Chapter members hailing from a feudal planet with very little in the way of advanced technology, the Chapter has a thirst for knowledge and while they appear on the surface to follow the Imperial Truth, the Chapter rather believes the Emperor is not a god.

The Void Dragons will attempt at every opportunity to rediscover lost tech from the Dark Age of Technology and study it as best they can. Believing that only through advancement in knowledge can the Human race survive among the stars.

This belief is obviously against the beliefs of the majority of the Imperium and so the Void Dragons generally keep themselves to themselves.

Battles of Note

At present the Void Dragons are engaged in their first campaign as a Chapter. Fighting against the Necrons on Megaria.
