This is the top three AoS lists for the Boise Cup AOS 2026
that took place in the US between the 25th and 26th of July 2026. It saw 22 players vying to be crowned champion in a 5-game tournament.

Roland Rivera: The 2026-2027 General’s Handbook has been a big revival for highly elite melee armies, and this list is a great example of it. We have 20 – count ’em, 20 – Chosen to deal eye-watering amounts of damage, and Be’lakor to help ensure they get to deliver it via defensive debuffs and the ability to strike first on your opponent’s turn. The Chaos Lord also contributes by making a Be’lakor and Chosen castle even more threatening to attack head-on. This style of list struggled in the recent past due to being highly elite and lacking in unit count, but the current points combined with the objective layouts make this sort of power fantasy a reality.

Of course, it’s not just the points and the objectives – the seasonal content plays a big role in this list’s success as well. A Nurgle Daemon Prince with the Darkflame Pendant is very difficult for many armies to kill, and the Banner of Apoplexy makes a unit of Chosen deal truly absurd damage when you are at maximum Fury. An unusual thing to note is that Oliver opted for the in-faction manifestation lore, which is rarely used. This likely means he was not casting very many manifestations in his games, as the free generic lores are considered to be better.

The roster is rounded out by some Darkoath: Fellriders bring a bit of shooting chip damage to help you score the first step of the Blazing Onslaught tactic card, as well as screen for your power melee hitters, and Marauders are cheap bodies that can screen and/or stand on objectives as needed. Overall, this list has done a good job of balancing muscle with utility, and the strong result valideates the approach.
