As a teenager I played Shadow of the Horned Rat and Dark Omens to excess. I always wanted a tabletop version of the army to play with as well.
Now that I’m in my forties, I can finally realise that dream.

This week it’s the Grudgebringer Cannon. But I’ve had to cheat a little here, as you didn’t get a cannon in Shadow of the Horned Rat, it was only available in Dark Omens. But I’m not going to let that stop me.
I could use the Hellblaster and the Mortars you get in Shadow of the Horned Rat, but as there was a 3D print of the cannon available I couldn’t resist it. The other artillery may come later….

The Grudgebringer Cannon was great in the early game of Dark Omens especially using it in defending Grissburg from the Undead.
To represent them in the game I’ll be running them as a Bombard from the Renegade Crowns muster list.

To tie it in with the other units so far, I had to crack out my old editing skills and worked on Canva to make the unit card look the same as the others.

They look great, I have been doing something similar at 10mm Warmaster as well as 28mm and skipped the cannon for years as I couldn’t decide on the canon cannon crew colour scheme.
Fun fact, depending on the order you tackle the missions, you could in fact pick up two cannons in SotHR when you get to Nuln, alongside the Carroburg Greatswords, Helblaster and 4th Nuln Halberdiers.
One named Imperial Great Cannon crew (with the same banner icon as the Dark Omen one from blighted towers) and a second named simply Cannon crew (with the banner icon that would be the Grudgebringer Cannon in Dark Omen). Check out Joao Leong’s playthrough of “Warhammer Shadows of the Horned Rat Mission 24a Nuln massive hiring” on YouTube. Not that I’ve been watching that of late in the absence of grinding through the game myself.
I forgot about the 2nd Cannon! I remember the two mortars you got early doors, but they never survived long due to misfires! Would love to see the 10mm warmaster army you’re doing. I did see 10mm Dogs of War minis yesterday on Etsy and nearly clicked the button….
