Roland Rivera: Ryan Muskopf is my friend and teammate, and he is no stranger to the podium at Age of Sigmar tournaments. For this performance, he chose my favorite army (Slaves to Darkness) and my favorite character in the lore (Archaon the Everchosen) to lead the charge. What a guy!
On the tabletop, Archaon lists are generally looking to run light on regiments and take advantage of the Eye of Sheerian ability to potentially set up a preordained double turn. By choosing to go second (and list with only 1 or 2 regiments will often have that choice on Round 1) and using the Eye, the Archaon player will have a 50/50 chance to go first on the following round. The other pieces are set up to take advantage of this potential bounty: 10 Chaos Knights with the Dread Banner and (presumably) a Khorne pledge will do a lot of damage if they get to crash into your opponent’s army two turns in a row, as will Skarbrand, who comes in via a Regiment of Renown.
The remaining pieces round out the roster and give it play in scenarios when things don’t quite go according to plan. A Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount with Radiance of Dark Glory offers extra punch and consistency to the Knights, as well as some healing for the big boys (not to mention the ability to go off on his own and pick off small or weakened units). Raptoryx are a quality screening unit that protects your important units while you are setting up your big offensive swings, and it moves fast enough to keep up with the rest of the gang. All in all, this list is a potent offensive list, and in the hands of a strong player like Ryan, it is a force to be reckoned with.

Final Tournament Placings

Event Organizer here! Some context on some of the oddness in this events rankings: Round 3 was what we’re calling a “Mulligan Round” – Players were able to take a draw if they wanted, or get paired into those wanting to play the third round of the day; Lamoine Last Stand is held at Lamoine State Park and people often want to take some time to explore/go to the beach/play cornhole/etc. This was a compromise in the community: the people who wanted to play 5 rounds could, and to be eligible for the final prizes, they’d have to play all 5 rounds.
LLS has definitely evolved into a casual/odd-format event, so this is definitely in the spirit of the community.
Thanks for the clear up. That makes a lot of sense now!
Can someone explain to me how to play Derrek Perham’s Tzeentch list?
I’ll ask Fabien, see if he knows and get back to you
So I asked one of our resident Tzeentch experts Dalton Kahle about this one:
Blues and brims plus pinks make a big tar pit for someone to chew through, means he can put them where he wants for a few turns and not worry about his objectives being taken, and the lord of change can bring them back.
