Faction Terrain
Gnawhole

Matt Beasley: Thanquol, Warpseer, 12 rattlings.

The list works by starting out as a castle / gunline for early game damage and then, when your opponent commits,  it can scatter using gnawholes, skitterleap, claw steps, and bridge to take the broader board, often abandoning its initial castle entirely.

The main damage source is the ratling guns, which significantly increase in effectiveness when Thanquol’s no command spell is resolved.

Recursion on everything except the characters means that Skaven is happy to trade even with any piece, often trading down slightly if it gets you points.

Overall, at WCW, I made top 16 and ended 5-3 (2-2 in top 16). I know how I could have fixed two of the losses, and overall, the list worked out well. The core Skaven rules are quite good and fun, the main issue right now is that the power of the book is really tied to the rattling guns and they’re a bit too obvious of a pick – so we’ll see what the future brings!

Faction Terrain
Nexus Chaotica

Carson Whitlock: It’s Be’lakor, and his league of super friends! Here, we see a fairly standard Slaves to Darkness core list, with two main hammers in both Chosen and Varanguard varieties. Having both ensures that the list can last in a brawl (Nurgle Chosen) and can crack pretty much any anvil (Khorne Varanguard).

The Chaos Sorceror Lord acts as a reliable way of getting a 5+ ward in addition to being a platform from which we use our heroic trait and artefact. Radiance of Dark Glory, in addition to being a great healing piece, acts as an anti-wyrdflame deterent against those pesky horrors to ensure that our lads are wounding on 3s, like the ruinous gods intended!

Be’lakor is the best warscroll in the game.

And lastly, we have our two pet units – First is the Mutalith Vortex Beast, which if wholly within 12″ of the sorceror lord has a 55% chance to shut off an enemy unit’s commands for the rest of the turn… Every combat phase! And a fun fact for those listening at home, you can actually target Gnawholes and Loonshrines with this. No more recursion for you! Our second pet unit is a pack of Chaos Legionnaires, which can shut off enemy commands for the rest of the turn on a 4+. It’s pretty amazing for a 90-point screen.

This list, death balls hard, and punishes your opponents for trying to face it head-on. The only thing that could beat it is some kind of weak baby-man who, for instance, might be playing Thanquol and a bunch of Skaven shooting. Regardless, well done, me!
