The Woehammer Narrative Campaign: Age of Sigmar

Welcome to the Woehammer Narrative Campaign. A campaign that is influenced by the results of competitive tournaments around the world.

Through these competitive games, a sub-realm will be created and shaped by players games in a fully dynamic, tournament-driven narrative campaign.

How It Works: A Living, Breathing Realm

At the heart of this campaign is a newly discovered sub-realm, a land of untamed wilderness, lost civilisations, and war on an epic scale. Every competitive Age of Sigmar tournament result from around the world will feed into this campaign, dictating which factions will rise and fall.

Play in real-life 2 day tournaments that are hosted on Best Coast Pairings, Stats & Ladders, or Ecksen to contribute to your faction’s influence.

Each victory on the tabletop earns Progression Points, shaping the realm, with each Grand Alliance fighting for territory, resources, and ultimate control.

Special Event Weekends bring huge shifts in the balance of power.

Regional Warfare

The realm will be split into six different regions. Each one influenced by tournaments from a different area of the globe. The six regions will be split by tournaments from:

  • North America
  • UK & Ireland
  • Europe
  • Scandinavia
  • Australia & New Zealand
  • Rest of the World

Each region will develop its own lore and background as time progresses, and each region may be able to subtly influence another should one be totally dominated by a faction.

Councils of War

Each Grand Alliance will have their own war council, this war council is made up of players who want to influence their Grand Alliances in the campaign. To become a member of the War Council you must join the Grand Narrative Discord Server and then join a Grand Alliance to help make decisions on their lore and strategy.

Once you’ve joined the server, you’ll only be allowed to join one Grand Alliance, so choose wisely!

As a War Council member you’ll be able to:

  • Suggest and vote for names for key characters and points of interest in the campaign world.
  • Suggest and vote for enemy targets for your Grand Alliance
  • Suggest and vote on lore progression for your factions – i.e. vote whether to attack a settlement or perhaps found your own. Perhaps trying to corrupt an enemy settlement etc

The Progression System: Shaping the Realm

Tournament results will go towards shaping the realms, every battle counts. Players will earn Progression Points from their victories at 2 day events and these will go t0wards both their Faction and their Grand Alliance’s total in their region. The more points each factions earns, the more they influence that region of the campaign. Progression Points are earned in the following ways:

How Points Are Calculated

Faction Progression Points attempt to take into account a number of factors. These being, the individuals players performance compared to the current global win rate. The factions popularity globally and the tournament size.

Tournament Size gives us the Base Progression Points for each player:

Number of PlayersBase Progression Points (BPP)
0-311
32-632
64-963
96+5

EXAMPLE
A Seraphon player enters a 34 player tournament. Being a 34 player event, we refer to our table above and see that the BPP for the event is 2.

Base Progression Points (BPP) = 2
34 Player Event = 2

At the event, our Seraphon player manages to achieve 4 wins and 1 loss. They therefore managed to achieve a personal Win Rate (PWR) at the event of 80%.

Player Win Rate (PWR) = 0.8
Won 4 ÷ 5 Total Games = 0.6

We then calculate the Seraphon Faction Strength with the Win Rate Modifier (WRM) which as at the 9th February was 55%. 100÷55=1.82

Seraphon Faction Strength (WRM) = 1.82
100 ÷ 55 (This being their global win rate on 9th February) = 1.82

We then calculate the the Faction Popularity Adjustment (FPA) which adjusts the score based on the popularity of the faction worldwide.

Faction Popularity Adjustment (FPA) = 1.25
1 + (100 ÷ 393 GT games to date using Seraphon worldwide) = 1.25

So our final calculation ties all this together:

Progression Points = BPP × Win Rate × Win Rate Modifier x Faction Popularity Adjustment

2 x 0.8 x 1.82 x 1.25 = 3.64

Let’s take another result and apply it to a Daughters of Khaine player in the same conditions, in this case we’ll say that the Daughters of Khaine player managed 2 wins.

Player Win Rate (PWR) = 0.4
Won 2 ÷ 5 Total Games = 0.4

Daughters of Khaine Faction Strength (WRM) = 2.27
100 ÷ 44 (This being their global win rate on 9th February) = 2.27

Base Progression Points (BPP) = 2
Tournament size is 34 players falling in the 32-63 player category =2

Faction Popularity Adjustment (FPA) = 1.69
1 + (100 ÷ 145 GT games to date using Daughters of Khaine worldwide) = 1.
69

Final Calculation = 2.86
2 (BPP) x 0.4 (PWR) x 2.27 (WRM) x 1.69 (FPA) = 3.07

As we can see, despite only achieving two wins, because the Daughters of Khaine player has an a benefit from a globally lower win rate and a lower popularity globally, the player achieves almost the same progression points as our Seraphon player.

Progression Point Milestones

As factions earn Progression Points, they’ll hit milestones at certain totals in the various regions.

Here are some example milestones for the Slaves to Darkness:

  • 250 PP: Slaves to Darkness establish a (Community named) war camp in the region. Chaos Champions start rallying lesser warbands, beginning ritual skirmishes against enemy factions.
  • 500 PP: The first Temple-Fortress of Chaos is built in the region, solidifying their power. If in the lead on points compared to other factions, the landscape begins to change as corruption seeps in.
  • 1,000 PP: Slaves to Darkness take full control of a settlement and rename it in the community’s image. Chaos Dreadholds begin to rise across the land, fortifying their influence. If the Slaves to Darkness are the first to reach this milestone then a Great Champion is declared – a lore-driven Chaos Lord emerges as a major figure in the campaign.
  • 2,000 PP: Corruption spreads, affecting all factions in the region (narrative consequences apply). If the Slaves to Darkness control the region, they can launch an invasion of another region in the next special event (i.e. Chaos Grand Alliance v the leading Grand Alliance of another region).
  • 3,000 PP: A Chaos Ascension Event occurs: either Archaon himself sends an envoy, or a mighty Chaos Lord ascends into daemonhood. The region is officially recognized as a Chaos stronghold, changing the overall campaign narrative.

But there may also be other unique triggers:

  • The Warbands Gather (If Slaves to Darkness are losing a region, they can call a “Black Crusade” event, boosting their next tournament scores.)
  • The Ritual of Chaos Ascendant (If Slaves to Darkness hold a Chaos Gate, they can attempt to corrupt other factions’ settlements)
  • The Challenge of Champions (If a rival faction leader is declared, Slaves to Darkness can initiate a lore-driven duel event, altering control of regions.)

Special Event Bonuses

Once every four weeks (or for big events with more than 100 players) there will be a Special Event. In these cases each Grand Alliance and Faction would receive specific thematic objectives to influence the campaign. Some would be region-focused while others would be about controlling resources, defeating a rival faction, or triggering major lore events.

Disruption Special Event Example

One such special event is the Disruption Event, where each Grand Allowance has their Grand Allowance Council vote on the faction they would like to hinder. If the target faction performs worse than their global win rate that week they lose progression points instead of gaining them. If the targeted faction performs well, they resist the disruption and nothing happens.

We’re always open to suggestions on ways to improve. Please let us know either in the comments below or in our Narrative Discord Server.

The First Community Decisions

What’s this sub-realm called? Why not suggest a name for this sub-realm or perhaps a region of this sub-realm allocated to your global tournaments? E.g. Should the UK region be called Albioni (it probably shouldn’t, but its an example)?

Which realms influence this sub-realm? Is it part realm of Shadow, part realm of life?

Each Sunday, I will give an update on each regions progression and give narrative insights into whats going on.
