We’re starting the Death factions today, with Soulblight Gravelords, possibly the most popular Death faction right now.
Battle Formation

Bacchanal of Blood is the battle formation most of us are used to seeing on the tables, and when it buffs your Vampire units that have charged or are not in combat that turn why not? Adding to wound rolls for Vampire units that charged and adding one to casting rolls for the Vampire units that are not in combat is a nice double whammy.
Artefacts

You’ll mostly see lists with either the Amulet of Screams (Opponent wizards risk having mortal wounds on a D3 roll of 2+, the roll being the number of mortals, if they cast within 18″ of the bearer), or the Orb of Enchantment (One enemy hero in combat with the bearer has Strike-Last that turn).
Heroic Traits

Lash of the Sire is the most popular choice allowing another friendly Soulblight Gravelords unit within the bearers combat range to move D6″ (on a D6 roll of 2+ and provided it’s not within combat) or make a pile-in move if it is in combat.
Manifestations

Morbid Conjuration.
Warscrolls

Not too shabby with the warscroll selection and internal balance. Though, Grave Guard, Dire Wolves, Mannfred, Blood knights and Black Knights are the more popular choices.
Performance v Other Factions

While they perform well against Stormcast Eternals, poorly against Slaves to Darkness and Nighthaunt we can see they do need some work with their balancing. While Soulblight may appear balanced at around 48%, you can see that in terms of balance, only four factions are within the 45-55% range when playing against Soulblight.
This is the case for many factions, while you may look at our weekly stats and think your faction seems well balanced as it falls within that range, these snippets of the faction v faction stats can tell a different story. You may wonder why everyone says your Soulblight are fine and the win rates say the same, but then every time you play your best mates Nighthaunt army you really struggle… it’s not just you.
Admittedly some of these have very low data samples, and can be disregarded in many cases, but looking at the factions where there are more than 40 matches on the records can paint a vivid picture.

As always, you’ll probably (and quite rightly) disagree with me on a lot of these points. Why not let us know I’m the comments below what you think to the Soulblight Gravelords.
