Woehammer Elo Rankings: December 2024

As it’s the holiday period and we’ve just had the new Battlescroll released, it may be a nice time to publish the top 10 players for our Age of Sigmar Elo System.

As a reminder these are for games that have occurred since the 1st January 2022 and we keep this updated each week as we update the stats.

No system is perfect though, and as we draw our data primarily from Best Coast Pairings and Stats and Ladders, the Elo system we use currently favours those playing in North America and UK tournaments.

But let’s jump in. All of the following stats are for events that have occurred since the September Battlescroll.

World Number 10 – Jarod Brown USA

December 2024 Elo: 745.6
September 2024 Elo: 761.8 (World Ranking: 3rd)

Jarod has fallen in both the World Rankings and his Elo ratings slightly since September, but to be fair to Jarod we only have two games on record for him since September both of which occurred at a single RTT event. Jarod won his first game against Christopher Ryan (Rated: 401.0 pre-event) playing Ironjawz (Ironjawz Brawl) and lost his second to Dalton Montgomery (Rated: 341.2 pre-event) who played Gloomspite Gitz (Troggherd).

World Number 9 – Stark Pister USA

December 2024 Elo: 746.3
September 2024 Elo: 662.5 (World Ranking: 37th)

Stark has had an awesome quarter, going undefeated in two RTT’s and a GT as well as getting 6 wins at the World of Championships of Warhammer. In all of these games, Stark has played as the Stormcast Eternals (Vanguard Wing).

Stark had some notable games during this time, losing to Mason Knox (Rated: 712.7 pre-event, Dec World Rank: 12th) at AoS Feast of Blades in the second round, but then going on to beat Matthias Krushel (Rated: 662.2 pre-event, Dec World Rank: 65th) in round 5.

At the World Championship of Warhammer Stark managed to beat a number of big name players, Jesper Melander (Norwegian Number 3 and ranked 44th in the World) in round 4 and Mike McAbee in round 5 (ranked as 11th in the World as of December). In Round 7, Stark also beat current World Number 2 Thomas Guan who has a rating of over 850.

Just last week, Stark added to these by beating Matt Beasley (Rated: 756.7 pre-event, Dec World Rank: 5th) and Matthias Krushel again. These matches have seen his Elo rocket from September.

Stark’s list has remained pretty much unchanged since the start of the World Championships of Warhammer:

Michael started the battlescroll playing Gloomspite Gitz at both the Bad Moon Rising GT and Battle of the Bend. He then swapped to the Ossiarch Bonereapers from the OMG November RTT.

Matt is our first non-US player on the list. But is the UK current number 1 according to our Elo system. Going undefeated at two RTTs before flying over to compete at the World Championships of Warhammer. Matt has been playing Idoneth Deepkin this battlescroll to good effect.

At the World Championships of Warhammer Matt beat fellow Brit Hazel Moon (UK Ranked Number 3) and US player Aaron Elias Newbom in round 8.

Frederick Schmidt has played multiple factions since September, but Disciples of Tzeentch appears to be his main army so far and the one he took to the World Championships of Warhammer. But Frederick has also played Ironjawz, Slaves to Darkness, Kruleboyz and Cities of Sigmar.

Frederick Schmidt has played many big name players over the last few months, beating the likes of Stark Pister who we’ve already mentioned in this article and Danny Elvestad (Norwegian Ranked Number 2). Frederick Schmidt also played and lost out to the legendary Ronya Andersson (Swedish Ranked Number 1) at the World Championships of Warhammer.

Below is the Disciples of Tzeentch list he took to the World Championships:

Thomas’ rank has fallen since September, but as you can see Thomas has only attended the World Championships of Warhammer and so perhaps not kept his hand in as much as he usually would. This has resulted in him giving up the number 1 spot to Gavin Grigar.

But Tom did still manage to beat Jeremy Lefebvre, Jiwan Noah Singh (LVO Champion 2023), Nicolas Tassone and Alexander Gonzalez. But as mentioned he has lost to both Stark Pister and Matt Beasley along the way as well.

World Number 1 – Gavin Grigar USA

Gavin is undefeated since September and while he played Bonesplitterz for one event, the rest of the time his focus has been the Beast of Chaos.

Gavin is one of the few players on our list who also didn’t attend the World Championships. But he has still beaten both Bryan Lofton (Dec World Ranked: 39th) – twice and Basil Inferrera (Dec World Ranked: 53rd) since September.

Gavin’s latest Beasts of Chaos list was:
