Faction Stats: Slaves to Darkness (Nov ’24)

Slaves to Darkness are currently the most popular Chaos faction in Age of Sigmar, and have a massive amount of warscrolls. Does this make it difficult for players to pilot them?

Battle Formation

Godswrath Warband appears to be almost the only choice for players at the moment. With almost everyone choosing them as the Battle Formation. Allowing players to defile objectives and then rolling a D3 for each enemy unit contesting that objective giving them mortal wounds on 2+. It may seem, and perhaps it is, but with the sheer amount of players of all calibre taking the formation, it will invariable trend towards 50%.

Artefacts

Again, there is only the one choice that appears to be getting picked here. Infernal Puppet, allows the Slaves to Darkness player to inflict D3 mortal damage on a chosen target if they’re chosen as the target of a spell.

Heroic Traits

Radiance of Dark Glory (allows the player to heal units within 12″ on a 3+). All of the choices for the Slaves to Darkness, whether it’s Battle formation, Artefact or Heroic trait, just seem to be the easiest picks right now without much competition from the others.

Manifestations

There’s a much more even split between the manifestations for Slaves to Darkness, with players mainly choosing Morbid Conjuration, Primal Energy or the Krondspine Incarnate.

Warscrolls

The actual win rates of the units when they’re included is fairly even, bu there are some trends appearing in choices here with Be’lakor, Chaos Furies, Varanguard, Chaos Sorcerer Lord, Chaos Knights and Chaos Chosen being the far more popular choices. With the Battle Tactic choices, their damage output and the abilities of the previously mentioned Battle Formations, Artefacts and Heroic Traits, its hardly surprising either.

Meanwhile those poor, gorgeous Darkoath units are really struggling to get a look in.

Performance v Other Factions

Some nice sample sizes here, purely due to the popularity of Slaves to Darkness. Fairly even, though they do suffer against the ever oppressive Nighthaunt and hold their own against the popular Stormcast Eternals.

Close

As always, you’ll probably (and quite rightly) disagree with me on a lot of these points. Why not let us know I’m the comments below what you think to the Slaves to Darkness.
