We’re back once more starting a new series of Faction Analysis articles.
People often refer to our stats and look at who’s top and bottom of the pile and then draw conclusions on factions based on what they see there. But, I wanted to highlight that although the win rates we create are a good indicator to see where AoS sits at from a balance perspective, it may not always reflect what you see in your FLGS.
So each week, I’ll pick a faction (or if there are enough people shouting at me, the faction you pick) and break down how that faction is performing globally and regionally.
Age of Sigmar Round the Globe
Before we jump in we need to look at how much Age of Sigmar is played around the world and where it’s most popular and it can give us some more info on what we’re looking at later.

These are the records for all the tournaments we have on the Woehammer Database since the new September Battlescroll dropped.
As always, the US is in the top spot. This is mainly due to almost every US tournament organiser using BCP to host their event. While we have worked hard to include many of the hosting websites, there may well be a few that we have missed, and a few European events like to host their event on T3 and then organise their pairings elsewhere.
Interestingly, thanks to some recent big events in Australia, they come out as the 2nd most popular place.
This data is accurate as at the 2nd November 2025.
Win Rates
Our most recent stats article, has Seraphon with a win rate of 46%. That’s at the bottom of the ideal range (45-55%). So What’s up with them?
First off, it depends where you’re playing. If you’re down in Australia, you may find that Seraphon are hard to beat. Down in Oz, Seraphon see 4% of all players taking up the Dino’s, which is about what you’d expect if the players were split between all the factions equally. But Seraphon down-under are really tearing up the tables with a 59% win rate at competitive events. While in the US, Seraphon sit with a measly 44% win rate. They’re also more popular in the US, with 5% of players taking up Dino’s.

Popularity
Seraphon is the 8th most popular faction globally.

But how does this compare across the different countries?

Seraphon are very popular in Canada, while the UK seems to shun them at competitive events with only 2 of 133 players using them at GTs.
Battle Formations

While Sunclaw Starhost is the most popular Battle Formation with 178 games on record, it isn’t the most successful. That title falls to Shadowstrike Starhost which ties in with what we’re seeing as the most successful warscrolls in the next section. Shadowstrike Starhost allows up to 3 units of Skink Infantry or Skink Cavalry being able to move D6″ extra per turn in the Seraphon players shooting phase.

Regiments of Renown
Only two of the Regiments of Renown have seen play in Seraphon lists:
Sky-port Profiteers (20) – 70%
Saviours of Cincerfall (5) – 20%
The Sky-port profiteers have seen the most success with their inclusion in Seraphon lists, hitting 70% win rate across 20 games.
Heroic Traits
With 135 games under its belt, Being of the Stars is the most popular Heroic Trait and hits a fairly decent 49% win rate.
Also at 49% win rate is Beastmaster with 58 games. While Repitilian Cunning has only been used by one player who went 5 games with a single win.
Artefacts of Power
While Incandescent Rectrices is the most popular artefact with 199 games, it has a slightly lower win rate of 46% compared to 47% of the Coatl Familiar (30 games). Bloodrage Pendant, while popular at 64 games played, has the lowest win rate at 45%.
