Is this a listicle? No! I’m awarding my favourite podcasts with different awards in an entirely bloody subjective manner which is totally different!
People ask me, how did you get so good at the Warhammers? And I tell them:
Pure skill (that’s a lie)
Plenty of reps (that’s also a lie)
Analysis of my own games (probably helps a bit)
The real lie all along was that no one asks me how I got so good… I wish they would but then maybe I need to listen to more podcasts to up my game.
Enough of my trademark waffling, let’s get to it in no particular order (that’s also a lie). Getting into the actual meat of the article, I’ve restricted this to audio only Podcasts so no Youtube or other video services (I sort of break this rule later in the article) because that’s harder to listen to with the phone locked. I might get back to those in another article later… or not, the topics of these articles is pretty erratic as it is anyway. Oh yeah, I’m also not covering narrative shows here… I’m not sure why, I just realised after I wrote the article (my favourite one is Mortal Realms if you’re interested).
Best Allrounder – Party at the All Points

https://partyattheallpoints.podbean.com
An award normally kept for that player on the cricket team who is pretty good but doesn’t excel at any one thing (best I could do was best fielder one year so who am I to talk), this time it’s for the podcast which I consider the best of the best. PATAP, as it’s commonly known, puts together a great mix of competitive chat, hobby talk, pure shit talking, great audio, and some pretty good music to make a podcast of quality that is easy to listen to… and it comes out weekly. Insane. Big props to the PATAP crew! Along with the regular crew of Dayton, Tristan, and Bud are often joined by Carl (who might be a regular now) and Ridge from Season of War. A great mix of Candians killing it week after week.
Bonus points for an awesome ditty to kick it off each week.
Best Development – Dudes of Sigmar

It took me a little while to warm up to Damon and Roma’s podcast but after following along with their journey, it’s one of the ones I’m excited to see pop up regularly on Spotify. Early on, you get a feeling for their slow growth in their wargaming (and the podcast itself) and it really grows as it goes along with some great game recaps which is a highlight for me from the show. Roma goes from learning the game to absolutely smashing it in their league. Damon’s a clear wargaming veteran along with surly attitude from time to time but hearing his change in the way he approaches the game has been inspiring. This is a great pair of Canadians dropping episodes more or less every week!
Bonus points for their sheer enthusiasm which is what really makes this one shine.
Best Newcomer – Saints of Stagfall

They’ve just started out but I’ve found it pretty good so far and I hope they keep it up. As yet another Canadian podcast, they seem to have learnt from the previous two a bit and the audio quality is great on this one from the get go. Similarly to dudes above, they’re both really enthusiastic about the game and this is one I’d recommend for newer players as they’re covering not just the gaming side of things but also a bit of the hobby and bringing a fresh perspective on some interesting topics so far (like making the game good for your opponent and the annoying things in the game).
Bonus points for getting off to a banger of a start.
…
Will they all be Canadian in this list? Noone will know… unless you keep reading further down.
Best Competitive / Best Socks – MisCast

Miscast is a podcast I wish would come out more often. This is my number one for competitive discussion. They mix this with an irreverent approach which makes listening to people talking about how to move models and roll dice engaging and interesting. Alex leads the MisCast crew with Darren and Owen who bring some great insights along with some fantastic guests on the show. I don’t think the episodes are planned this way but one of the best things about MisCast is that the episodes age well. A lot of the topics aren’t meta dependent but cover topics which stay relevant such as deployment, how to play teams, and gaming psychology. I’ve listened to quite a few of these a few times and I’m sure I’ll listen to some of them again. Please release more episodes guys!
Bonus points for best episode titles!
Best Superstar – AoS Coach

Probably the most famous of the podcasts I’m listing here. AoS Coach is known far and wide. The faction focus episodes are the best of those out there. My favourites are when he covers event winners and their paths to victory. Careful guest selection keeps the episodes interesting to listen to with some really good hosting from the Coach. In the end though… I tend to listen to these on Youtube because there’s a bit of lag before they’re on Spotify which means I lost a bit of track of what I’ve listened to and I probably end up missing a few here and there.
Bonus points for being Australian 😉
Best Vibe – Three and Two

Saving the “best” for last, I think I also said PATAP was the best at the start but I’m awarding equal first. I think I was trying not to rank them to be nice but PATAP and Three and Two deserve the accolode. Funny choice of award you may think but for me Vibe is one of the most important things for an audio medium,

Three and Two is an absolute diamond. I can’t even put my finger quite on what makes this podcast so good. A lot of the episodes revolve around game by game tournament recaps which is something which tickles my fancy. In this case, I think I find them very empathic, they’re all good players going and playing at tournaments trying to do their best. Rich, Laura, and Matt are speak calmly about their matches but manage to really put themselves out there and speak about how they feel about their games and their experiences. An excellent British podcast to round this all out. This is another one where I just wish they would release more episodes. I can’t get enough of it!
Bonus points for being a bunch of absolutely lovely people.
The end of the awards show for this year
So that’ll do it for my list of the best podcasts. Congrats on making it to the end of another article on the internet. Do you disagree? Well, unfortunately you’re wrong because this is my list and I got to choose them. If you reckon I’ve missed some good ones, let me know in the comments and I’ll have a listen… maybe I’ll even update this article in the future. In the meantime, get out there, paint some more models, and listen to a couple of Podcasts.

What a cool idea for an article, I’ve never heard of some of these podcasts. Will definitely be adding a few into my rotation.
