From Blizzard Entertainment

As regular readers will know, we pride ourselves on our timely and quick reviews of books, video games, and board games… so I recently played Diablo III: Eternal Collection on the Nintendo Switch — released in 2017!!… with the PC version released in 2012… ah well.
What is it?
Diablo 3 is a action RPG, but it has roguelike elements once you’ve completed the main campaign mode. It is isometric 3rd person, so you see your character in amongst the enemy and laying around with his sword.
Gameplay
This is a great simple game – there is definitely tactics in it, but they are not too deep. You pick a character – a fantasy stereotype – get some equipment and start in a village of Tristram. Once killed enemies drop gold and equipment. So your character slowly gets better with level increases and new equipment.
I played the Barbarian, and picked up a lot of equipment with automatic healing. My tactics – walk into the middle of the enemy and hold down the A button!
Don’t get attached to your equipment though. You’ll be changing them all the time for the latest drops. I just picked a theme – healing – and picked equipment with that.
There are also lots of difficulty levels, and I started at normal, but ended the campaign two levels higher at hard, because with the healing it was too easy.
Game Time
The campaign takes about 20 hours to play to end of Act IV, which was the end of the original story. An additional story can be played (Act V) for another 5 hours or so.
After that you can play adventure modes, or create a character to play seasons for more challenges. A maximum level of 70 gives lots of opportunity for advancement, but there is limited choice. You can select abilities for each level, but the stats driving your character are based on your class.
Verdict
It’s a great game, easy to play and with an interesting story. I’m not sure how much replay-ability there is, as the adventure mode doesn’t really appeal, but 25 hours of gaming is not bad for the current cost. I picked it up for slightly over £20 second hand on Nintendo Switch.

Oh boy, Diablo 3 on the Switch? It’s like a trip down memory lane… from 2012! But hey, who doesn’t love hacking and slashing little demon baddies while curled up on the couch? Just remember, if you see gear with ‘automatic healing,’ it’s basically saying, ‘We know you can’t handle this!’ 😂Prospecting Script
Love the honesty about reviewing a game from 2012! Better late than never, right? Your “walk into enemies and hold A button” strategy made me laugh – sometimes the simple approach is the best approach, especially with all that healing gear. 25 hours of gameplay for £20 is definitely solid value. Thanks for the straightforward review and the difficulty level tip. The Barbarian class sounds perfect for someone like me who prefers action over complicated tactics! kalkulator
