This is the top three Old World lists for the Hanoi Iron Hammer Grand Tournament that took place in Vietnam between 23rd and 24th of May 2026. It saw 13 players vying to be crowned champion in a 3-game tournament, and was a great highlight for a budding South East Asian scene.

The Event




Some fabulous looking armies took to the tabletop, facing off in Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital using the matched play guide missions. This is the second year of this tournament, which last year was won by Orcs & Goblins! Building and maintaining a community is fun and rewarding, and it is great to see events popping up all around the world 🌏 Congratulations to Xenoph and all the attendees!

The Top Three Old World Lists

Duy Anh’s list relies heavily on the shooting ability of 3 Grand Cannons and the Sky Lanterns, with the powerful Shugengan Lords able to back up infantry or finish of units damaged by shooting. The smaller blocks of core units are useful for scoring, but this list might suffer if the cannons fail to hit big targets, or against lots of tough, manoeuvrable units.

Max’s list has the formidable Vampire Counts combo of a tough and hard hitting Grave Guard block, and multiple ethereal threats. The Grave Guard lean on the weapon skill buff from the Wight Lord’s Helm of Commandment, ensuring that anything they run into will get pinned down. This list is all about positioning, as movement of the Grave Guard is key to controlling the board, and units like the necromancers, hexwraiths and banshees need to make sure they are not killed cheaply.

Thắng’s Warriors of Chaos are led by two spectacular Chaos Dragons, both of which want to get into the fray and comfortable taking on units alone. These are backed up by several ambushing or fast moving units, as well as two tough gigantic spawns that serve as a useful distraction. However, with so much depending on the dragons, if they fail impetuous or end up in the wrong place, it’s game over.
