Legion Imperialis – Solar Auxilia
After something of a break I am returning to my series of Hobby Updates with some new toys and some older ones that have not yet featured on the site.
When I was last here, I was painting a lot of terrain (grey for the win) but have got a lot of different options on the painting table now
Legion Imperialis
The new Epic has been released and I managed to get a starter set from my friendly local gaming store (SCN Hobby World). My first large scale wargame was Epic (Space Marine as it was called then) and I love the scenes that you can make with Epic scale troops – I love Warmaster for the same reasons!
The Solar Auxilia are half the box set (with one Warhound Titan each) and I am also working my way through the Space Marine section as well before starting the Warhound Titan

How do they play?
I’ll be sure to tell you when I get a game in! They are a horde army so I imagine they will die in droves but I’m hopeful the Malcador tanks, Leman Russ and Ogryns can do some heavy lifting.
Paints Used
This is a much simpler scheme than I have used at 28mm, but they are small toys and I am using a simple rule – What do they look like at 3 feet?
I am very happy with how they have come out, but I won’t be buying anymore until I complete the Space Marines and the Warhounds, so I likely won’t be playing a large game for some time.
Buying a Box
Now that’s not an easy question – once again Games Workshop have misjudged demand and the models are not available from them – and with The Old World on the horizon I don’t fancy the chances of the moulding machines being set to Epic in the near future – here’s hoping I’m wrong!
