It’s finally time to announce the winner of our painting competition who, with thanks to SCN Hobby World, will walk away with a start Collecting! or Combat Patrol box of their choice.
There were so many great entries to the competition and I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to take part and also to my fellow judges, Sarah, Ed, Declan and Rhys.
Marks were awarded out of ten for each miniature by each judge on the panel, and it was a very close run contest!
3rd Place – Antonio Rodrigo & Justin Jackson
The judges just couldn’t separate between the two miniatures with both receiving the same scores across the panel. So both Justin and Rodrigo will walk away with a £10 Games Workshop voucher.
2nd Place – Joseph Isham
In second place and winning £20 of GW vouchers in Joseph Isham who submitted this awesome Space Marine Chaplain conversion.
1st Place – Steve Milford
In first place and walking away with the inaugural Woehammer Painting Competition top prize is Steve Milford and his excellent Relictor.
As I said before the standard really was very high with only 6.5 points separating the top six positions!
I hope you have all enjoyed taking part, and again I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Sarah and SCN Hobby World for sponsoring this event and providing the top prize!
So the deadline has closed and the judges are reviewing the miniatures and giving their scores. We will announce the winner on Friday 7th January where they’ll be asked which Combat Patrol or Start Collecting box they would like as their prize.
This has all been made possible thanks to our amazing sponsor SCN Hobby World, where you can get up to 25% off your miniature orders!
So after the failed attempt of deciding a winner the first time around via voting, we’ve decided to reopen the competition to entries.
The winner will be decided by a panel of judges and the winner will receive their choice of start collecting or Combat Patrol box. This is made possible by our generous sponsors at SCN Hobby World.
You’ll have until 31st December to make your submission. As before the rules are as follows;
1) your submission can be any miniature from any games system, as long as;
2) the miniature fits on a 50mm wide base (round or square)
3) One submission per person
4) one of the photographs submitted with the miniature must include it with a note showing the email address of the competitor.
5) entry for submissions closes at midnight (GMT) on 31st December 2021
6) send your submissions to thewoehammer@gmail.com
Small announcement in regards to the painting competition.
We are extremely sad to announce that due to cheating the competition has been closed and no prize will be issued.
My apologies to those of you who have competed. All your entries were amazing and unfortunately this has been spoilt by one individual who shall remain nameless.
I’ll be reopening to entries in the next day or so with a closing date of 31st Jan. This time I’ll have the Woehammer guys as judges rather than voting. I’ll automatically include those who entered into the competition.

My sincere apologies!
I know I originally said that I would run this on twitter AND the website, but I’ve decided for greater control the voting ill be done through the website only (this way I can delete multiple votes from the same IP).
We’ve had ten fantastic entries to our first ever painting competition sponsored by the lovely people over at SCN Hobby World. Go and subscribe on their website to get 25% off GW products!
But it’s time to close for entries and get the voting under way! Voting will start today and run until 31st December to give everyone plenty of time to vote. The winner will be announced on the 1st January, at which point I will contact them and ask which start collecting or combat patrol box they would like as their prize.
So in the order of submission here are your competition entries! Get voting!

Two submissions this week under the #Woehammer on Twitter. Both members of the team.
If you want to see your miniatures on the site remember to use the hashtag #woehammer either on Twitter or Instagram.
Dave has started a new 40k 9th Edition army, this time focusing on the Space Marine Chapter the Imperial Fists. The model below is his first Marine for the army, and I think you’ll agree its a stunner!
Dave’s Imperial Fist
Dave has gone for an awesome golden yellow armour tone and black trim denoting the 5th Company.
The detail on the base is great, and I especially love the coiled barbed wire and spent casings next to the dismembered head.
It’s little different this week for Declan’s submission, here we have an army shot of the force he took to Mancunian Carnage last weekend.
The blue armour really stands out along with the spots of Red. Declan has joked in the past that his Orcs have been called the Crimson Fists. It’s a great army and Declan finished the weekend 3-2!
And talking of Declan’s fantastic tournament performance, only yesterday he was interviewed by the AOS Coach on YouTube about the Gloomspite Gitz! I’ve included the video below for you to watch.
Remember to use the #woehammer for your painting. While you’re at it why don’t you check out our painting competition below where you could win a Start Collecting or Combat Patrol box of your choice all thanks to our sponsors SCN Hobby World. By signing up to their mailing list you receive 25% off all GW products or 15% for the web only products.

As well as our painting competition which is open to the public where you can win a Start Collecting or Combat Patrol box of your choice, the guys at Woehammer and our generous sponsors SCN Hobby World are holding their own internal painting competition.
A few have already chosen which models they’re going to paint as well…..
Sarah
Sarah has been collecting Orks for some time now but has chosen to do something a little different for the competition.
Howling Griffon Space Marine. With the marine already purchased and undercoated Sarah is well on her way ahead of the 30th November deadline.
Sarah’s painting back catalogue is full of amazing looking Orks.
Ray
As far as I’m aware this will be Rays first miniature, and he’s chosen the new Ork Beastsnagga Warboss. I’m really looking forward to seeing what he comes.up with this for the competition. There’s already been smack talk between himself and Ben as well!
Rhys
Anyone who followed our Tale of Painters on YouTube will know that Rhys has only been painting for about a year and a half now. In that time his abilities have gone from strength to strength…..
Ed
Ed loves Nurgle and Lumineth, but this time round he’s attempting a new model and style completely with a comic book look. Here’s some of Ed’s work….
Ben
After smack talking with Ray, Ben decided to paint a Space Marine captain which he’ll paint in Imperial Fist colours and donate to Dave’s army that he’s creating. Ben is another talented painter with quite the back catalogue…….
Just look at his Bel’akor
Peter (Me!)
For this challenge I’ve chosen to do something a bit different to what I normally would paint. I’m painting Calas Typhon the forgeworld model. This is actually Dave’s model which I’m painting for him (Dave is kindly painting Mephiston for me).
